I've been thinking a lot lately about misinformation and mainstream media and how society can get to more solid footing, Specifically, here if you peruse any of "The Kitchen" threads you will lose your mind on the misinformation, well and the 3rd grade vulgarities and the inability for folks to discuss things like adults. Maybe that's the point of those threads, maybe people like calling each other names, grandstanding, etc.
So, for this topic, I decided to go to ChatGPT to see what it thought about Newsom and CA's debt. I won't post the whole thing, but here's the conclusion:
---
While Newsom’s policies contributed to the deficit—particularly through ambitious spending during surplus years—structural issues in California’s tax system, reliance on volatile revenue streams, and broader economic conditions played significant roles. Blame for the deficit is shared between Newsom’s administration, previous administrations, and external economic factors.
Newsom's critics highlight his spending choices, while his supporters argue that his investments addressed critical issues like housing, healthcare, and climate change during a period of extraordinary challenges.
----
Obviously the text above it has more detail. This seems like a completely fair and balanced response to what's actually happening or has happened. I can fully admit Newsom is to blame on some of this and should be held accountable. It would be illogical for me not to. That said, this should be applied for all of our politicians. I honestly think tools like ChatGPT will help us find that solid footing as opposed to rage bait mainstream media like FoxNews, MSNBC, Newsmax, CNN, etc.
But, yeah, if the goal is call each other names....to be "right" (even though you're not)....so be it.....have fun in The Kitchen.
