Expansion

West Coast and Liverpool recruit from same local talent pool. RH appears to have out hussled West Coast.

Both Clubs are going to suffer if they dont quickly address now that RH is at Blues.
It's an issue if WC couldn't field a halfway competitive GA team. OC Great Park is saturated with GA (WC and Liverpool) and ECNL teams (Slammers/Blues/Pats)... Seems like it's time to promote a deserving club in another geographic region in OC....

Agree. We played this team and they had no business being in the league, at this point anyway. It was almost cruel to put the girls through a whole season of that, but they did seem to keep their heads up. Props to those girls. The stats were that bad and that was with teams trying to take it easy on them. It’s also a bad look for GA to put a team in that isn’t ready. Hopefully they fix it.

Look at DPL + DPL Open if you want to see the Southwest clubs that GA will bring on in the future.

10. Added RSL-AZ South
11. Added RSL-AZ North
15. Added City SC San Marcos
21. Added Albion SC Riverside
22. Added Inland Surf
23. Added Rebels SC Inland Empire
25. Added Sporting Slammers FC
26. Added City SC Temecula
28. Added Socal Elite FC

I'm sure the clubs above will also try to leverage GA into ECNL offers + see which makes the most sense.

Do teams ever get kicked out of these leagues? Has anybody been demoted out of MLS Next or ECNL?

Anyone who thinks they’re going to leverage getting invited to GA at this point in order to get into ECNL is probably a little high.

There’s no question ECNL has peeled off GA clubs, but if you look at them, they are the most competitive and storied clubs dating back to the old US Soccer DA. See: SD Surf, Real SoCal/LAFC, Legends, Beach.

If you’re angling to get into ECNL and you’re not in anything right now, your best path is ECRL and then to just really kick ass. That’s a bit of a tall order though. There’s a lot of good establish clubs there that will make the path from just joining a league to being “promoted” out of it a very difficult path.

As far as ECNL, Strikers were dropped. I believe they were among the less competitive clubs but not necessarily the worst. I think the main rub there was that Strikers have MLS Next, and ECNL wants their clubs to put their best boys teams in ECNL.

The GA 2024 national champions were crowned this weekend.

2010G - Nationals 10G GA Blue (over TopHat)
2009G - FC United Soccer Club 09G GA (over Nationals)
2008G - Lou Fusz Athletic 08G GA (over STA)
2007G - Lonestar SC 07G GA Red (over Nationals)

2 of the 4 champions are leaving GA; 4 of the 8 teams in the finals are leaving GA.
Lonestar likely joined ECRL to keep Sting from recruiting their players away as easily. Choosing ECRL was an odd decision.

Nationals are an umbrella type club out of Michigan. They have many feeder teams and they pick the top talent to make all star / travel teams I believe they have 2 mabey 3 indoor facilities and several outdoor fields as well. Since their GA soon to be ECNL teams have to travel long distances for games either way all that matters is competition level. Nationals participate in many different local, competitive, semipro, etc leagues.

For GA the only club that's unfortunate to lose is Nationals.

Ukies are a time bomb. It's just a matter of time before they implode or one of their parents get into a fight with a ref or something crazy like that.

Colorado Rush is the same as Lonestar the needed to play in ECNL to keep Real Colorado from recruiting their players. Also Denver as a city is an island. I believe Denvver plays the big Texas teams in ECNL league. Denver GA teams play New Mexico, Utah, Vegas, etc.

You can see from the number of clubs GA added there's more joining than leaving the league. Unless making more money than they did the year before is a bad thing GA will be fine.

It will be interesting to watch what happens with Lonestar. I don't believe only offering ECRL will be enough to keep players from going to Sting. If they had ECNL switching over would have made more sense and could have kept players from leaving.

Colorado Rush switching to ECNL gives them better league games both locally and when traveling. But in GA they weren't really dominating league. I doubt this will change in ECNL

Nationals will probably do well in ECNL.

A Ukies coach will probably kick a pregnant woman after getting into a fight about orange peals during a game.

Where are the GA 2023 and/or 2024 National Champions listed for U13 and U19? From gotsport here, it shows that the 2023 Finals winners were U14 Select, U15 Top Hat, U16 Lou Fusz, and U17 TSJ - but there are no games/results listed for U13 or U19. Is that a separate time/location? Wikipedia shows U13 Tophat and U19 Sockers.

GA did u13 and u19 finals at the playoffs. This way those two groups didn't need to travel as much since they're not really the players recruiters are looking at.

Our understanding is prior to last season, the two 2011 WC teams (who were very good teams in the U-12 age) left at the last minute with their coach, leaving WC without anything at 2011. The 2013 team with some 2012s was asked to take on that spot thinking about long term growth, and they did so willingly. The 2012s (who were apparently not as good as the 2012 group) played DPL. There is now a new 2011 GA. I am a parent for the new 2011 team, which we look at as a project. Obviously we had to put an entire team together from nothing. We will also struggle significantly, but we are at least 2011s and for the most part know what we are getting ourselves into. We joined the team trusting the GA director who would be coaching the team - then about 2 months in he was terminated (coaches being terminated after joining teams - story of our life). Much longer story and a lot of retrospective thoughts about how all of this has played out, but just have to move forward now. We feel like the club as a whole is headed in the right direction with the new GA Director. Was always thinking about this big picture anyway, meaning development for a "final product" at 16-18 years old both individually and as a team. As for Liverpool (now So Cal Reds), RH had that team for years which is why they had been so dominant at DPL and now accepted into GA should be one of the top 3 teams in GA Southwest at U14. Galaxy/Liverpool/now Reds has a huge youth rec program which feeds a lot of the OC clubs as the kids get older and leave rec.

Appreciate your insight into all of that WISESOCCERDAD. Ya I figured something had to be up. Just didn’t seem to make sense, but now it does. Well it’s good to hear you have G11 girls lined up for this coming year. Wish you guys luck and will see you on the pitch this season. 👍🏼
