GAs most recent add Sporting United FC was ECRL before switching to GA. This is new and will put pressure on ECNL to move ECRL clubs to NL or risk losing them to GA.

GA loses 4 of their top clubs nationally in one season to ECNL - you say it's a nothingburger. ECNL-RL loses a club rated #500 in the country to GA - which accepts them - and you say it's putting pressure on ECNL. Be consistent. GA is losing top clubs and trying to maintain quantity while all top clubs are getting pressure from parents to move.

With the number of clubs all the different leagues are adding its clear that 2 separate mega leagues are here to stay. There's a couple of things that could change the entire landscape (NWSL Next, a buyout, etc) but they're not likely to happen in the short term.

Maybe, it's all going to depend on what the big clubs decide to do and how/if NWSL chooses to get involved with Youth Soccer.

Right now with ECNL for top clubs competition is high (which is nice) but does that translate to and more or less $$$ than other leagues? The quick way to incentiveize top clubs is to give them a 2nd ECNL/GA team. Will we see more of this on the ECNL side?

I still believe that lower performing clubs in high level leagues over time will either move to a more appropriate league or they'll get forced into joining a more appropriate league. We haven't really seen this action yet for youth leagues but it's starting to become very clear a reshuffling is nessasary. As an example I can see ECNL breaking out Sonoran and Mojave into an A and B league. This would be to avoid blowouts.

Like I said a while back, this will get to the point that ECNL/ECRL/ECRL2 and GA/DPL/DPL Open will get to the point that they have so many teams and levels that they become the de facto former SCDSL vs CSL rivalry. Then, to placate the egos of the parents again, they will branch off an "elite" group of the best teams to form a super elite group with a more elite-sounding name, and on and on it will go. Not blaming anyone in particular ... it's just bizarre watching the money-fueled frenzy.

This is proven day after day for Girls ECNL vs GA is not even close to a rivalry. GA vs ECRL is.

I've been pointing this out for years. The GA propagandist refuse to accept it, even though all the data indicates it, and cross-play tournaments solidify it. The strength of teams in GA continues to decline. If NWSL creates a new youth league, they will take the top teams/clubs regardless of which league they are playing in today. We have seen that everytime there is a shuffle in the king-of-the-hill youth soccer league race. If NWSL youth league were to happen today, 95% of NWSL youth league teams would come from ECNL teams/clubs.

I also wonder how the ECRL-2 works. So lets take Slammers for example. If that ECRL-2 team performs and gets elevated then Slammers would then have 3 ECRL teams since they already have 2. This is if I'm understanding how ECRL-2 works? Or does the ECRL-2 Slammers team just get to complete in the ERCL playoffs and win it and then has to go back next year to the ECRL-2 league?

One of the nice things about having two leagues is clubs can leverage potentially joining the other league to pressure getting into the league they want to play in.

What's going to be interesting is if leagues ever start dropping teams from their highest level of play for non-performance. If this ever happened the dropped club would be forced to stay with whatever league dropped them down because nobody wants other leagues discards.

At this point it's not likely that leagues will be bringing on new unless in pairs to keep leagues even or as an entirely new regional league. So it's time to bring out some learnings for 24/25 adds.

GA + DPL (if you include DPL Open) = 71

ECNL + ECRL = 30

Neither league demoted anyone.

From a business revenue perspective GA adding 41 more clubs than ECNL will translate into more money. But, does more $$$ trump exclusivity? It likely takes much more resources to manage new clubs over established clubs at events and in league.

For the top clubs in both GA and ECNL nothing changes. With a larger base of paying customers GA would be able to spend more on Finals. But, they'll also need to do more showcases to highlight all teams in the base.

Overall GA is doing what's required to grow and expand. ECNL is betting on exclusivity and ability of member clubs. Both are strong tactics to capitalize on the growing base of female youth soccer talent.

As long as everthing continues on the current path youth soccer league wars aren't going to end anytime soon. However an outside influence (NWSL Next) could completely change the entire landscape.

My biggest takeaway is that it's very obvious that ECNL was/is undeserving the girls. ECNL had the opportunity to be the single league for all high level play. GA being able to carve a niche out of the youth market just shows that there's many more customers to be had.

You forgot to add addition of new National Academy League (NAL) and So Cal ECRL

The 2nd tier leagues are very difficult to track. (Nothing against NAL or ECRL) leagues just tend to highlight the 1st tier additions much more than 2nd tier. As an example ECNL announced ECRL additions in a single post + mixed it with conference changes and all kinds of weird marketing speak.
