Makes sense. Just cant imagine committing to one of these teams if my kid isn't upper tier and won't have to worry about being rostered on the weekend. (competition is good and all, but not signing my son up to not play)

While I agree, it's really the players choice. U15/U16 is where they should take more ownership IMO. Are they ok potentially being low in the depth chart and working their way up or would they prefer guaranteed time at a lower level?

IMHO this is on the club, not the kid. The club should provide both meaningful training and game-day experience. If that means guesting/dual-rostering, so be it. But stacking a roster with more kids than the league allows on game day just to cash their checks is poor form.

It's definitely about $ and any good coach will admit that..

However, you'd be surprised how many MLS HD players don't want to guest down with the AD team, AD players who don't want to guest with the EA team, EA players who don't want to guest with the EA2 or SoCal teams. Plenty of players are frequently asked to guest down, but decline as either they want to be available for a last minute slot or b/c they don't want to tarnish their reputation.

WE received a "strongly worded" email from Noah. My son's former teammate (u14) got "I need to know why you're leaving" email from Noah for not accepting an EA2 spot.
Making us more and more happy that we decided to part ways.

Yeah, unclear why the staff thinks they are in a position to demand answers. Perhaps they should look at the tables in these age groups and ask the questions of themselves. Can you tell which of these 6 rosters was not assembled by Albion staff?

U14 EA 11/15 with 3 wins; EA2 6/29 with 18 wins
U15 EA 15/15 with 0 wins; EA2 24/28 with 3 wins
U16 EA 14/15 with 3 wins; EA2 27/28 with 3 wins

I am not sure what led to him and JA fleeing, but he sure did bring in some talent.

Not sure it's just about talent availability. In the past two years SN won both a SoCal league title and a State Cup with the "dregs" that ML didn't see fit for the EA badge, and many of the (few) wins above occurred after AN/AM took over the squads.

For sure. Sami got a lot out of his teams. Turned out some good players. Some now EA kids with Albion, a few MLSN

I'm willing to bet there will be a few flight 2/3 players who believe they've achieved the MLSN level and will jump at a letter league offer.

I may be mistaken, but there might even be a registration fee involved

Some good younger 12s jumped ship and went to city

U15 ea also has three younger 2012s, two of which are simply put not good.
Ale kept a lot of weak players and discarded a very solid one.

From what I can tell, Ale didn't strip anyone of their badge--kids rostered on EA/EA2 last year were by and large given an offer to either the EA or EA2 squad this year... eventually. Yet, Albion has stuffed their Academy rosters to the gills; all are well over the 18-kid SoCal limit even as tournament season begins. But not with marginal EA(2) players, who might actually improve the squads, but instead with external kids writing new checks (who don't seem likely to lift any of them, if this past weekend's results are to believed for the putative F1 Academy squad).
