Cal South 2004 Player Pool Announced

Admittedly Surf was a fierce competitor - they weee the clear favorites and by any measure they could have put one on us... so Arsenal is not saying we crushed them ... we just feel the better team won that day

Yes this is Surf Derangement Syndrome. SDS for short.
Whenever they have lost this year it was lucky or kickball or an accident. Every time. It had nothing to do with the skill, speed, soccer vision of the opponent.
The rest of us we just lose. It's what we do.
Joking people :)

In all seriousness folks - from the bottom of my heart I appreciate and respect your teams and opinions on this board

When we play your teams whether we win or lose - you make us better / Jealous and hungry ... the good thing about "us" ... all of "us" it's Iron sharpening Iron - translation Your DD's make our DD's better and hopefully vice Versa

So Cal - is so lucky to have such a density of talented DD's out there

Just having fun on this board .... no - disrespect all in fun

Which much Love KongZilla
Aw man!! Don't do that Zilla! Getting all mature and down to earth sounding. That's no fun to read. Lol. Stick to the waxing poetic, ex-WWE star type of poster we have come to......love to hate! Just sayin

And? Not one of those players will get a call up to the full team.

I'm a USC hater, but I thought USC dominated the NWSL draft this year (3 players in the top 10 and 5 players in the top 40). Kayla Mills and Morgan Andrews may still have a shot for the full WNT. Both of them were part of a pretty successful U23 effort in Spain this month.

Mills might if she cleans up her game. I'm not an Andrews believer. I think their freshman DeMelo is their best shot. Although if they play kickball for 4 more years she won't get to show her ability.

You are spot on about them dominating the draft. A natty will do that which is why that golden carrot is so enticing. It really explains why so few are committed to playing a style of play that will work long term on the international stage. Let's see what happens next. The last coach before the current one won their first natty and it was all downhill from there. Let's see what he does with his recruits.

Back to the original Question

How viable is ODP today and into the future?

Does DA negatively impact ODP?

We don't know because we don't know what will happen ultimately with DA and when it will run like a well oiled machine

Where did this thread go from the 04 ODP pool to whatever it is now? Strange journey to here.

Viable? Sure

In theory, yes. It will negatively impact. Depending on your perspective.

If DA is comprised of the wealth of talent, and they are precluded from participating in ODP, then the talent level will be diluted for ODP. I will contend that Cal South would still dominate.

On the boys side academy has put a huge dent in the quality of the players for odp. In fact this year in the 2002 age group there was one team that had 12 players make the pool. In the 2004 age group the same club had one team with 9 players. The two teams from this club are good but not that good.

That's it! I'm thinking of changing my DD's BC and coming to Arsenal. I wanna hang out with the Zilla.

I can give you 2 reasons....but I won't. Check any popular thread and you'll see what I mean #professionalhijackerscomeinpairs

Well done Kicker. I couldn't agree more.

I appreciate the comments from the parents who have been there and done that with their player, but when they tell us how DA will be, I start to lose interest. Not sure how anyone can be an expert for GDA at this point, but we do have a few posters that are posing as experts. By the way, the information that younothat provides for the Boys DA program is much more germane to the topic at hand.

Getting back to the original 04 ODP thread can you tell me for the girls on the list what the direction has been from your coaches or DOC's with regard to those moving to DA. I believe I understand the consensus. If what we are being told I would expect there to be many missing faces from this weekend's ODP sessions. I know the "5" from our club will not be there. This would obviously also be a major shakeup to last year's regional team.
