CalSouth National Cup Question (use of ECNL players)

Congrats to Arsenal for winning the President Cup. What a story for the parents to tell over coffee, and players to their children, winning a State Cup without giving up a goal.

Congrats to Arsenal egsl/ecnl for winning the 2017 Presidents Cup with "18" players, winning 2-0 vs Eagles, 0 goals against (Has this ever been accomplished before in President's Cup, this may be a 1st?)! Good luck at Regional's in Utah! How far will this Team go?

Congrats to the 8-10 ECNL players for winning the President's Cup for the club. Especially for 03soccerpops and Arsenal papa. Hope you guys enjoyed the ride.

Good luck next year maybe Governor's Cup will be the goal for next season.

RB will be SOL; believe the regionals are same time as ECNL playoffs...dilemmas dilemmas....

From what I understand (typically not much) the rules for "club pass" and other "transfers" are those of US Youth Soccer, which are adopted by all of the State Associations that participate in Presidents and National Cup (Mayors and Governors are their own set of rules because the trip ends at SoCal). Because these teams move into regional matches, any changes to the rules are at US Youth Soccer level (not Cal South). While Cal South could adopt stricter rules, it ultimately is not inclined to do so because it presents Cal South teams with a disadvantage when moving up to regionals.

This is what I was hoping...They can change up the roster now; but I think the 9 players continuity remains the same.

There is not talk about eagles because they did not bring in 11 ECNL players. If Randy dropped his Flight 1 team down to Presidents and played with that team, there would be no complaints. If he added a 2 or 3 bench ECNL players to fill in the gaps, maybe some rumbling, but still okay. The issue is he added 11 ECNL players, including all of his top starters, to play Presidents. There are only 6 girls from the old origianl EGSL team that are on the active roster.

Fact: We had 7 ECNL players, 1 04 pre-ECNL and 8 EGSL players. Stop adding ECNL players. Lol... Semi-Finals 1-0 and finals
2-0very competitive.

The Cal South Pres Cup team picture has 18 kids with medal. Posted on Facebook/Flicker

So your FACT of 16 doesn't add up. Okay 1 kid pictured did not suit up could be injured. It doesn't add up
7 ECNL
1 04 (keeper)
8 EGSL

Arsenal Roster had 11 players that were on the 2003 ECNL roster and 1 player that was on the 2004 preECNL roster (goalie).

CQ -2004 Pre ECNl

There were 5 girls from the Flight 1 team that were not on ECNL rosters that were on the active game roster. There were a few girls that were on the Flight 1 roster as of the cutoff date but on the ECNL roster before that. 2 Flight 1 girls were on the tournament roster, but not active. Only 2 of the Flight 1 girls played any significant minutes in the close games (1 of whom was pretty good). To be fair, only 8 of the 11 ECNL girls were ECNL starters (including the key starters), the other 3 did not play much. Rumor is that RB tried to bring down the 3 2003s playing up with the 2002 ECNL team, but those 2003s had some ethics and sense of sportsmanship and wouldn't do it.

WOW! amazed that people a still bitter and angry ... Arsenal Won the tourney within the rules provided... whether you think it is ethical or fair is another question and reflected only by "opinions".... at the base level of it all ... these girls are all within the same age group (03's). Also I don't see the same vitriolic attacks on other teams that used ECNL players ... the Eagles used 4 in their Championship game!. . . Point being . . . Get Over it, Move On and work harder with your DD's to get better next year ... so you can take pictures of your DD Raising the cup on the Champions Podium!

Point well taken. I can only hope that my kid and 7 of her teammates are good enough to one day to be moved to a lower level team and compete at a tournament level that they are way over qualified for. #dreambig

I would call it more ridicule and mocking than bitter and angry. But yes...it's time to move on.

Okay, so by your logic you have no issues with teams playing down to secure the trophy. So next year, the Arsenal ECNL girls can look forward to Governor's Cup?

Here's the difference.......your HC (RB) and it appears many of the parents of this team are 100% okay with playing down and winning a trophy your team is overqualified for. This tactic proves to me that RB is more interested in winning a trophy than developing his players. What flavor kool-aid does he serve at practice?

The HC's that have integrity will not allow their teams to play down and beat up on teams that they already know they are better than.

Enjoy your trophy and pictures. In a couple of years that may be all of the glory you and your dd will ever experience.
