CalSouth National Cup Question (use of ECNL players)

What happened to the two EGSL players that were crossed out from the roster. Were they told they didn't have a spot on the team anymore for state cup so the ECNL girls could play? Did they have to just watch from the bench?

I can't believe how much time people waste analyzing information about Arsenal. Fact: the last 2 games the starting line up 8 ECNL & 2 EGSL & 1 pre- ECNL 04. I suggest if it really want to know the answer on why RB had them played State Cup, email him. If you think this is violating State Cup rules, don't waste time on a blog. Contact Cal South and protest! Who cares if Arsenal wins State Cup.
You do

Of course the Arsenal parents don't mind...they get to put "National Cup Champion" and potentially "Far West Regional Champion" on their dd's soccer resume. The college scouts/coaches have no idea if those "championships" come with an asterisk or not. Both my dd's teams have beaten RB's teams in finals/semi-finals of many tournaments, state cup and regional tournaments. I feel bad for them because they always get so far but rarely ever get the big prize no matter how their coach tries to "bend" the rules. Eventually they get desperate enough to justify any means just to get those titles on their dd's resumes. Quite sad really...

What good is it doing for 10 ECNL players to play presidents cup? My ECNL daughter wouldn't be caught dead playing there. No disrespect to President folks but we joined ECNL to play there, not sandbag tournys. If I were the parents of those ECNL parents, I would think real hard the message you're sending to your kids. I understand 1 or 2 like most ECNL clubs do to fill in holes but 10 is definitely sending a message to everyone that we want to win at all costs. Yeah, they'll probably will win but did they really? At least play in national cup and go against the pre-academy teams or wait, maybe RB is afraid to lose to them and potentially lose players to a superior team... If I were on that team and got sub'd out by ECNL players like this, I would be out of there faster than sh%t through a goose. Sad.

There is a lot of talk about RB and the Arsenal team but what about the Eagles team? They are a gold team playing in presidents cup. Shouldn't they be playing national cup as well? I realized they finished second to last in CSL Gold but the team that finished in last behind them is playing national cup and in fact advanced to the round of 32. Eagles look to be guilty of sandbagging as well. And who knows, do they have ECNL players playing with them?

with a starting line of 8 ECNL, 2 EGSL & 1 04 Pre ECNL keeper, will there be the disclaimer when Cal South publish the 2003 Girls Presidents Cup Champions?

Just text a friend whose DD is playing for the other team and for the other Semi Final game. Their team is aware with the Arsenal player situation and seems like Cal South isn't doing anything about. So shame on Cal South

Good luck to all this weekend....

There is not talk about eagles because they did not bring in 11 ECNL players. If Randy dropped his Flight 1 team down to Presidents and played with that team, there would be no complaints. If he added a 2 or 3 bench ECNL players to fill in the gaps, maybe some rumbling, but still okay. The issue is he added 11 ECNL players, including all of his top starters, to play Presidents. There are only 6 girls from the old origianl EGSL team that are on the active roster.

Let's hope Eagles have ECNL players so they can pull an upset and beat Arsenal 03 egsl/ecnl Team this weekend!!

Except this is President Cup division,

you kinda don't want Eagles to beat Arsenal this weekend. I want to see Arsenal take it all and shamefully present Calsouth at regional. I wonder would those ECNL parents shell out $$ for a trip to Salt Lake and Florida, if not, what is RB going to do to fill in those spots.

Stuff like this happens every year, although Cal South has a play level guide they allow division appeals to skirt the guide and let some teams play in a lower division.

They should either get rid of the appeals procedure or limit the types or amounts of players added for appealed teams.

Some coaches know how to game the system, will setup ghost teams they know won't do well in league or enter in the lower divisions in leagues so they can get into the lower tier brackets in tournaments like this one.
