How’s the 2024-2025 season going?

Slammers RL deserves recognition taking care of business at the Phoenix Showcase. Head scratcher is legends NL tying Phoenix rising when the weekend before slammers RL handled them 2-0.

Pats on paper might be top 5, but performance wise I put them at 9 on your list. In a comeback game from a 1-5 loss to beach, Sporting gave them all they could handle this weekend on a depleted roster and their performance in Az indicates they need some figuring out before they can make a real run on the rankings.

Slammers FC NL moves up a few spots IMO after WC and the higher ups have been putting their focus on the team and performing well in Az and in league since the refocus on the 2010s.

LA Breakers should be on the list. I’d rank them over SoCal blues in a power ranking. This would knock rebels out of the top 10 who are to play Surf, Blues and Legends to close out their season.

I agree with your list otherwise.
How did Slammers RL get into an NL showcase?

The playoff picture for 2010's is definitely going to go down to the wire and be decided on 5/10. Been some wild scores so far this second half. These high school breaks have really changed these teams around.

How did Slammers RL get into an NL showcase?
Top 1/3 of Southwest RL teams would likely be just as competive as the NL teams if they were added to the NL league. Fact is, there is more Tier 1 talent in SoCal than there are ECNL teams, a lot more. ECNL could expand SoCal by 4 clubs, and not skip a beat. This is how you know that other factors are at play beside player performance.

Its cool ECNL is doing this now but before there was no way an RL team would get an NL showcase. There were some pretty dominate RL teams out there in the years passed from Southwest.

They’ve been doing this for years for RL. Rule was if you were a finalist for national playoff in Virginia you’d be able to go to NL showcases. Now they’ve expanded it a little for top performing teams and it’s been mostly teams from California.

MVLA RL 2010s did it in Spring ‘23. Slammers this year. It’s been a thing across all age groups.

All 3 Slammers 08 RL, 2007 Legends RL and 2009 Legends RL went to Phoenix Fall ‘24

2006 slammers RL Phoenix Fall ‘23 just to name a few.

When we first transitioning to 11v11 and choosing between ecnl and rl, one of the selling points the coach gave our team at the time was exactly this, you could play in NL showcases if you performed well. This got a lot of that team to stay together when we formed where girls were good keeping the group together because they could help guest with the NLs and play with the team they’ve been with for 3-4 years in 7v7 and 9v9 where their playtime was pretty much secured.

Unfortunately, some people are more interested in chasing the patch instead of staying together and being cohesive, understandably.
