Soccer players usulaly make good flag players.To say "sports is likely still the best key to open doors" is giving people false hope. Realistically, how many schools are giving full scholarships? We are in the era of partial scholarships right now. Anything about 75% these days is considered a good offer.
Forget about getting a scholarship, parents have an unrealistic view on how "easy" it is to get a D1 offer. Just ask the 08's (c/o 2026) how hard it is...there are top players that have not received an offer yet and time is running out.
The whole system is being destroyed as I write. We need a better way for girls to just have fun and play soccer with options after high school if they want. The control freaks are gone and now we as parents need to help make soccer great again.

100%. ECNL was in business to get the girls a D1 scholarship. Yes, some will take a D2 or NAIA as seniors, but the sell is always D1 to the young ballers in 8th and 9th grade.
My kid had the so much fun playing varsity soccer for 4 years. I had fun watching but I was always fearful of a bad injury because my child was singled out all the time. Most teams played rugby against the small school Breakers, but we stayed true and did our little best to play the triangle game and passing game against schools with 3000+ students to choose from. My dd loves to pass to her teammates and get everyone involved. HS Sports Rock!!!
I would say, if she is small, some coaches pigeon hole the small players! Unless she is in fact extremely fast! The only way small players can overcome their size, is to be really fast and aggressive.
My little baby girl was the smallest on her two championship teams. She was fast and aggressive but what she really had that set her apart was her Ganas to win and win she did. State Cup Champ. Two-time Surf Cup Champ win Surf Cup was all about crowning a real winner, not the fake three tier tournament that goes on now so the fat cats can get rich. Then she won a Natty, as the smallest player and leading scorer for Far West Regional and MVP. The goal that got her team to advance to Texas was freaking amazing. Then the cheaters and liars took over because..........

My child had auditions in 7th and 8th grade for full ride scholarships and all she had to do was email the coach at Yale, Duke and many others that came to our practices checking out the middle school kids. All she had to do was email the coaches and then the deal would be verbal. I said, "not now, your too young." My gosh, I was attacked, made fun of and called a "dumb dad" for ruining my kids chance at the full ride. We waited and waited and then she got some real nice full ride offers in 2021 but it came with a string attached, "you must be fully jabbed or you can't come to our college for free."

I know this is tangential, but I feel approximately zero sympathy for people who miss out on opportunities because the refuse to be vaccinated against communicable diseases. And I say that as someone with a close family member who literally lost his job because he's an anti-vaxxer.
$1,400 is pretty disgusting. What travel fees does a HS have besides a bus provided for by the school? Weird. My kids play HS and realize it's mostly for the fun of playing with classmates and having a good experience. I don't know many (if any) kids playing HS for development or college recognition. I get the frustration with playing time. Some HS down here carry 20+ kids on varsity. For every happy varsity player, I can name 2-3 unhappy ones. Seems like they just have to find the right things to be invested in and if the experience isn't panning out, find something else to do. Or make the impact in training, don't wait for matches to do so. It can be tough being a younger player playing up an age level. The benefit of the doubt from a coach's perspective isn't usually in your favor.

I guess the City of Los Angeles also has valid reasons to fire the firefighters who said no to the jabs. They got fired and we saw that LA was shorthanded to fight fire and replaced with others and lost that battle big time. I read a story about one firefighter that was fired and lost everything. His wife, his job and his friends. Consequences for saying no to bioweapon is, "you're fired. I get a little triggered with folks who have zero empathy, even for a family member. One thing I've learned the last year or so are the side effects of taking too many jabs. I know people who have had at least 12 jabs (including flu jabs) since Covid came and are scared shitless. I empathize with folks like that. The Tel A Vision made them scared. I was never scared because I have common sense, and I take my consequences like a man. I own my consequences and for that, I feel like I can handle all adversity that life and life's consequences throw at crush. I'm like a fucking cat because I always land on my feet. I also have more than 9 lives, just saying. I look at all Doc's in the eyes and look for truth and based on how they move their eyes and how they communicate I can detect the lie and only doing it for bonus pay.
