There is a guy on the UCLA roster from Fram fc. Farm is EA only. Fram is also local to UCLA and they probably know the kid growing up and know his quality. Maybe he was with a mls next academy and wanted to play high school. Who knows.

Football coaches talk about a player’s quality. Quality is a comparative measurement. A kid can look like Messi playing AYSO but you throw him among the EA players he looks average. Same thing could be said about an EA player when compared to ecnl and mls next academy players.
 
I know I'm late to the party and OP decided already.

And I'm not sure if I missed a post... but staying at the bigger club and moving down to his own age group could've been an option as well.

That way:
1) you get access to higher leagues as he ages up (ECNL, EA, MLS Next)
2) he should immediately get more playing time playing down to his age group I'd imagine

I know many posters mentioned going somewhere the kid can "have fun"... FUN = playing a lot, being integral part of the team, scoring goals :)
I guess the balance as parents is to try to push our kids in the most competitive settings as we can... while still retaining the fun...
OR forgoing a little bit of the fun now.... for more fun later...

Go the webpages of the D1 programs you are interested in. Click on the Roster page; read the player Bios. The player Bios will almost always tell you what club they played with, and usually what league the club was participating in. You will quickly notice a trend in which Leagues the coaches are looking at, and which ones they are not.

It tells you which leagues coaches were looking at in the past not where they're looking currently or in the future.

Current trends for girls are more from GA and more International players. More from GA is because 3-4 years ago GA didn't exist and now it does. More from International is because foreign Academy clubs are starting to put actual resources behind training female players.

Uh, no. If that were the case, it would be straightforward to show how many GA D1 recruits vs. any of their competition recruits over the past few years. The trend is in the opposite direction. Though I guess if you compared to GA prior to it existing, there are almost certainly more GA recruits now than before it came to be.

You're saying that there's less GA and International D1 recruits today than there was 3 years ago?
 
While GA makes it difficult to specifically define unless you're tracking all college commitments. Their site has a page where they put year over year commitment numbersish. (Sometimes showing actual numbers and other times showing percentages.)

At a high level they're trying to convey that the number of GA commitments is going up by 100 players per year starting with 400 in 2021.

No, I'm saying that GA had a fighting chance vs. ECNL 3 years ago in terms of percentages of D1 college recruits, and that is no longer the case. If international recruiting follows the mens model, there's no reason it wouldn't increase (vs. ECNL/GA/other) as well - but it's not like most people on this board can do anything to become an international recruit - though they most certainly can make league choices.

Unfortunately I don't see any yoy data to confirm or refute.
 
We've done this a few times. Here's the math from one late last year. (link to post here). It's inaccurate for anyone to state that any league will guarantee a successful recruitment, but it's just as inaccurate to state that the chances are equivalent across the board. For whatever collection of reasons that can be hotly debated, those charged with recruiting players for D1 womens soccer show a strong preference for one league, judged only by the numbers (number of D1 recruits / number of players in league).

Wasn't the DA still in the picture 3 years ago? Maybe it's been a little longer than that.

DA (Developmental Academy) blew up in March 2020. This is why GA records start in 2021.

Keep in mind that for the first couple of years nobody knew if GA would make it. Because of this many players and clubs went over to girls ECNL.

Now that GA has proven that it's not going anywhere the numbers of commitments are going up because players don't feel like they need to go to ECNL to get noticed by recruiters.

You're assuming what players & parents are thinking? Unfortunately I don't see any data to confirm or refute. Smells like an assumption.

More GA clubs means a wider net. A wider net means more opportunities to have college/pro players come up from within the system. If top talent feels like GA is mature and able to highlight them to recruiters they won't switch leagues.

Above is not unreasonable to assume.

Losing most good GA clubs, with the ones being left facing little high-level competition, means parents that are concerned about it are realizing that if their kid is shooting for D1, GA is not the best choice. A wider net is not what those parents, kids, or recruiters are interested in.

It's ironc who's being labeled as a shill.

The original statement was that GA D1 commitments are going down. I started that without yoy data it's hard to determine. I also posted links to the GA website where they are claiming college commitments are going up by 100 each year for the last 3 years. (Without clearly identifying if D1, D2, D3 NAIA, etc)

Other "non shills" started posting ECNL percentage type marketing info.

Give me a break...
