Games of the week....

Anyone heard of tentative dates?
One game a day... either Saturday or Sundays.

As the brackets stand I'll take CDA Godinez, Westcoast, Vargas and SD Navy as the final 4 teams and I'll go with Laguna and SC Canseco finalist in the Europa bracket. No real upsets that I can see.

Vargas going out early is the big surprise. Irvine Smith is a good team. Godinez White played well, not sure what happened to Pats Irvine, they couldn't get much going from what I saw of that one.

Good game Buddha, WC had control early, didn't put Pats away and your boys battled back. Pats GK had a couple of good saves too!

Battle of LA
I'm going with Galaxy. Just too much fire power and seems like the roster has gotten even more loaded. Not knocking LAUFA at all, they are a strong squad and battle for every ball. 3-1 Galaxy

SCDSL B2003 Champions - Congrats to Final 8!
Godinez Black vs. Barton - Godinez Black is the pick here. Undefeated in league, top ranked team in us youth soccer rankings when they came out last week. Beat Barton 4-0 in league. Barton beat TFA on pks last week and I'm sure they will bring a lot of energy, but too much fire power from Godinez Black. 4-1 Godinez Black

Godinez White vs. West Coast - West Coast is my pick here. Great win last weekend for Godinez White, but they run into the well oiled Kirsch machine this weekend. Kirsch moves the ball very well. Kirsch had a tight game vs. Pats LA last weekend and I think they will turn it on early and not step off the gas. I just don't see an upset in this game either. 3-1 West Coast

Slammers vs. Strikers - I''m calling this a tie. They played each other at West Coast tourney and Strikers won 2-0. That being said, I obviously don't know if there were guest players or players missing, etc., but I'm basing my results on that. BUT...Slammers doesn't lose very much, and all of there games are very close. 1-1 end of regulation...So...I'm taking Strikers here in PK's.

SDSC vs. Strikers Smith - First off, congrats to Strikers for putting up 5 goals against Temecula. I'm still wondering if that is a typo. Not a knock on Strikers, but they only scored 10 goals in 10 league games and then they put up 5 goals against a Champions League #7 team. Strikers Smith is running up against a great team though in SDSC and the run will most likely end. 2-0 SDSC is my guess.

I picked a couple upsets at a very quick glance, but too early to really analyze each game. Good luck to all 32 in this one. I'm sure there will be a couple upsets and a few bronze or silver teams putting themselves on the map with a big win this weekend.

I respectfully disagree with your assessment of the game. In fact, most of the first half of the game was played on the Galaxy side. I will agree that LAUFA had many missed opportunities but those things are fixable. Your statement makes it seem like LAUFA is not a strong team. That is untrue and unfair. They are a great group of boys who are developing and learning with every game. Yes, Galaxy was the better team yesterday but LAUFA was competitive. They didn't make it easy for them.
 
Never said they were a bad team....
But other than the pressure LAUFA put on the GALAXY team they knew how to get out of the pressure...
Soccer wise I think they are in the right path but not the same soccer as GALAXY AND GSA at this point....

I quess you should read what the scouts wrote:

LAUFA had 70% of the shots and procession in the fist half and overall in the game 60/40 and out shot galaxy by far. LAUFA failed to convert on at least three open looks close to the goal.

The non-foul free kick that went in on a rebound follow was a defensive laps. Other than, the one long range open look was another defensive laps.

My personal take:

Galaxy tried to play through balls all game, struggled to play out the back, and didn't look as good as San Jose Earthquakes or De Anza Force from NorCal.

22 players, 10 on the bench and 5 coaches and the best they could do is get lucky on a couple of plays.

How many passes out the back or overall did they connect? Far fewer than LAUFA, too bad the inexperienced center ref missed so many calls like the past back to the keeper but that's soccer, hard to believe that galaxy will be able to keep up with the top teams going forward.

The video will be out shortly and we will see what people think of this game, but galaxy was exposed big time.

Dude which game were you watching, you keep shouting at you kid all game so I guess you miss the rest of it. Who had most of the possessions the first half? Yes Galaxy was the better team yesterday and did win the game but there was nothing one sided about it. Don't brag too much they will play again.
Even your coach comments that a few breaks and it could have been closer.

I guess all the teams play a little bit harder when they play Galaxy...
And yes I do scream but I am not like other parents laid back and let there kids play like shit and still tell them it's ok...
So maybe you do it different but I guarantee that you have a few words with your kid after the game...

I didn't say they were exposed, your assessment was ways off. Galaxy won because the were the better team yesterday. And no I don't have a few words with my kid after his game. That the coaches job, I stop doing that after AYSO 7 years ago. My first words to him after each game is are you hungry. If he wants to talk about the game then I listen.
