NATIONAL CUP O6 2018

If I'm going upset special I'll go with legends over blues. One of blues good midfielders got injured today and and Legends looked tough vs Albion in some action I saw. They also have a girl with a monster throw in that is a major weapon

Upset-Beach Perez over Surf B
Real SoCal over Anaheim Surf
I actually had a chance to watch the Strikers Mirola vs Albion last year waiting for my daughters game to start and their Defense is Legit. Looks like they fell short this year on their “goals for” not so much their “goals against”.
Overall I think it will come down to Final 4 of LAGSB, Slammers Salazar, Legends Pre Academy and Surf A.
Legends for the win.
Good luck to the final 16
Lagsb and cda can’t both make the final 4.

Did Blues have 9 girls on the field after one got hurt, or did they have to play down a girl? They have one girl out with a broken collarbone and had another girl out with an injury last week. They only have 11 on the roster.

Btw, they have their own girl with a monster throw in...saw their big forward head two in off throw ins a few months back.

It was predicted that Surf A might lay down for Surf C about 3 weeks ago and the person who suggested it got downvoted;)
wow. it's a good fictional story that's for sure. but do you really think a bunch of 11 year old girls threw a game? my dd has friends on both the surf A and C teams. her friend on the A team was crying after the game today. I've seen all 3 of the surf 06 teams play each other over the past year. no one on any of those teams play to lose.
Firstly I think it’s very disrespectful to the Surf C team who put up an amazing game today! Those girls worked their socks off and had a game plan that worked!

These two teams played each other in CRL and it was only 2-0 not 7-0. Also the Surf C team recently tied Blues 0-0. Did Blues throw that game for Surf also?

Watching the game Surf A team certainly had their “game winners” playing the majority and had a number of chances saved or hit the post. but a very early goal from a breakaway ended up deciding the game. It also looked like the Surf A team coach was pretty annoyed after the game. But I guess haters are always going to hate.

If this really is what happened and they snatched a wildcard from someone else - that’s grotesque. Anaheim surf last year and now San Diego surf this year. Yuk.
Just checked and the last time surfs A and C team met up in CRL, surf A clobbered them 7-0. Definitely things that make you say hmmmmm

Well, we'll probably never know because the only people who watched are Surf parents, and why would they tattle on themselves?

>but do you really think a bunch of 11 year old girls threw a game?

It wouldn't be the girls, it would be the coaches. Play players out of position, play 2 in the back against a very attacking formation, instruct the girls to pass it around, put in your worse players and give no minutes to your best players.

>her friend on the A team was crying after the game today.

Doesn't answer "why" though. They're not eliminated and play the 4th wildcard next week.

Why was her 11 year old friend crying? Her 11 year old friend was crying, as was every other member of the A team, because they lost to the C team. They didn't play well. Their coach wasn't happy with them. The C team scored early and then their coach played defense for the rest of the game. There is no major conspiracy here, folks. Sorry to disappoint but it's time to move along to the next (fact or fictional) youth soccer drama.

Interesting post. I do understand the theories. From what I know of SD Surf (and it's a fair bit as we had a daughter on this "a" squad") this isn't something "we" would do...I'd suggest it's just soccer being soccer...but maybe things have changed since we moved.

Really, so a bunch of 11 year old girls decided to throw a game? That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. Better yet, the coaches conspired together to throw the game... I thought Facebook was bad with all the conspiracies. Sounds like: (a) has-beens who have nothing better to do then to question the integrity of a bunch of little girls, (b) parents of other teams who were kicked out by either Surf A, Surf B, or Surf C , or (c) parents from the Surf A who are upset that they lost. You decide on the answer. One thing is for certain as of yesterday, two teams battled for a win. Think on this, did the Surf A team really want to be known as the team who lost against the Surf C team? Or was there just good soccer played yesterday? Im sure I will get some comments but don't really care. Oh, didn't Surf B team lose to Surf C team in a tournament too? Hasn't the Surf B team also beat the Surf A team before? The wins and losses don't matter anymore I guess, because what people want to talk about is the thinking that a bunch of little girls threw a game......

Or...people who remember last year when Surf got involved in the Anaheim Surf drama and have a healthy suspicion for anything tied to the Surf brand.

I remember that. Now, wasn’t that parents with questionable birth certificates?? Who do you
Blame on that?

Oh there’s the best part. The people who clicked on the dumb icon. Yup. Conspiracy i tell you. Someone is drinking the kool aid.

I blame the adults of course. I don't think anyone here has suggested the girls had anything to do with anything.

For the record, while I think it's highly suspicious, Surf C is a good team, and yes it's 100% believable to me that everything was above-the-board. Surf brand has lost any benefit of the doubt with me after their shenanigans last year.

It's just plain old fishy. And Cal South letting the game be played last at 310 after all other games were final is a major issue. It's a competitive advantage no body else was given.

I agree! The #1 problem with this is Cal South. Yet again they failed to pay attention to detail. Not only allowing cross bracketing against the same club, but scheduling this game as the third group game (why couldn’t this game have been the first game for Surf), and then changing the game time to the last game of the whole weekend.

And yet how many complain to Cal South? Instead just use this as a forum to gossip and moan.

Go back and read the Anaheim Surf thread from last year. People tried getting answers from them and got nowhere. Cal South is not transparent and like any business will do what's necessary to keep the dollars rolling in.

So CDA finished 8th in CRL score only 11 goals during CRL and is now coming out in National Cup scoring an average of 9 goals each game...... hmmmm
I am curious to see if this streak will continue when they play the Big Dawgs.
On the other hand Congratulations on your victories and may the odds be ever in your favor

Looking at CDA Slammers record in CRL and SCDSL, they generally averaged about 2-3 goals a game vs. opposition (with the exception of a few blowouts against the weaker teams). Someone mentioned that the bench was generally 1-2 players deep during the season; however, now the bench is 5 players deep at National Cup. This same person said they've brought several players down who were playing up for National Cup.

Come clean CDA, inquiring minds want to know. How many new girls are subjecting themselves to Salazar's "vocal" coaching?

@Texas2Cali Your profile is private now, but I remember that you're a parent from a North Texas team that came out for Surf Cup. Am I right? And if I remember correctly you were trolling in that thread too.

Protip: When you troll create a new account, and especially one that doesn't give away your location TEXAS2CALI.

For what it's worth, my first post was in Feb 2017 where I stated that I was a Texas parent moving from Texas to Cali and that I was looking for feedback on coaches in the SoCal area. So post my move, and now that I'm here, should I create a new account? I would love to get more advice from such a luminary as yourself.

Is that photo even from Silverlakes???
