NATIONAL CUP O6 2018

I find it very interesting that Surf AB beat Surf Academy Select 1-0. Didn’t hurt Surf Academy Select’s qualifying for the round of 16, but it sure helped Surf AB make it in via the WC. Things that make you go hmmmmm

It was predicted that Surf A might lay down for Surf C about 3 weeks ago and the person who suggested it got downvoted;)

I feel bad for whoever missed out on a wildcard by 1 spot. I realize they likely wouldn’t have won next week, but you’d like to think everything is above board for a bunch of 11 year-olds playing soccer.
Surf A plays pretty soccer and didn’t technically do anything against the rules. All that’s said, I’ll be rooting for slammers on Saturday.

Looks like LAGSD Eckerlin missed out on Goals Allowed tiebreaker.

what's downvoted?
Sorry, my Reddit is showing. The user was given multiple negative reactions, e.g. "Thumbs Down" or "Disagree" emoticon.

> "One interesting thing I just saw on the schedule is that groups J and K (the two groups of 3 instead of 4) actually play the three teams from the opposite group instead of just playing two games within their group. What if SD Surf A wins their first two games (including beating Anaheim) and is in position to win their group regardless of whether they win their 3rd game (which is against SD Surf B). Could they sandbag that last game in order to allow their sister team to win the group? Not saying they would, but it seems like a schedule like this makes it possible and I love a good conspiracy theory."

I completely agree and it looks like South Valley drew the short straw and missed out on the WC spot

wow. it's a good fictional story that's for sure. but do you really think a bunch of 11 year old girls threw a game? my dd has friends on both the surf A and C teams. her friend on the A team was crying after the game today. I've seen all 3 of the surf 06 teams play each other over the past year. no one on any of those teams play to lose.

Well, we'll probably never know because the only people who watched are Surf parents, and why would they tattle on themselves?

>but do you really think a bunch of 11 year old girls threw a game?

It wouldn't be the girls, it would be the coaches. Play players out of position, play 2 in the back against a very attacking formation, instruct the girls to pass it around, put in your worse players and give no minutes to your best players.

>her friend on the A team was crying after the game today.

Doesn't answer "why" though. They're not eliminated and play the 4th wildcard next week.

What a joke. As soon as I saw the bracket I knew it was trouble. Then all the sudden game times change and it's the last game of the day. Convenient if you know what you need when everyone else is done. It's just sad the lack of scruples for Surf and Cal South. 2 years in a row Surf has run roughshod over the Cal South and they've allowed it. Feel bad for Gore who deserved it by upsetting Surfs B.

Didn't affect my daughter's team but it's awful. If something like thus happened in CIF the team throwing the game would forfeit the rest of the way.

Anyone who thinks SURF doesn’t have a club strategy is fooling themselves. Clubs will always do what is best for the club. ‘Bad’ coaching loses games no matter how talented the players are on the field. We will never know for sure.....

Apparently, the crossbar threw the game. kept getting in the way every time the A team shot. But I guess according to all the experts here, those 11 year olds were instructed to hit the cross bar. I'm no lover of the powers that be at Surf, but you're disrespecting a bunch of little girls in your little conspiracy game. Shame on you.

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
How many people were around to see this game?? Things that make you go hmmmmm

Firstly I think it’s very disrespectful to the Surf C team who put up an amazing game today! Those girls worked their socks off and had a game plan that worked!

These two teams played each other in CRL and it was only 2-0 not 7-0. Also the Surf C team recently tied Blues 0-0. Did Blues throw that game for Surf also?

Watching the game Surf A team certainly had their “game winners” playing the majority and had a number of chances saved or hit the post. but a very early goal from a breakaway ended up deciding the game. It also looked like the Surf A team coach was pretty annoyed after the game. But I guess haters are always going to hate.

Can someone explain why South Valley Gore didn't get a wild card spot? There are a cluster of 6 point teams with a +3 goal differential. The next tie breaker is goals against and they have 3 goals against vs. Slammers with 4 goals against and Strikers with 6 goals against. Why aren't they in?

The main issue here is Cal south even allowing that game to be a 310 solo start after all was over. Because despite all surfs puppets explaining why it wasn't thrown there will be a large group that has seen the lack of integrity Surf and Cal South has already shown and chalk it up to just the way things go for the flagship club.

By the way Surf C team is a very good team one capable of doing well vs anybody but it's unfortunate these circumstances have led to a shady situation.

And I feel bad for all girls involved, because 11 years olds aren't the issue here

On to next week.

I got:
- LAGSB over Strikers Ayala
- Slammers Salazar over SDSC
- Blues over Legends FC 06 (is this Chino Legends' "B" team?)
- Albion over Legends South
- Legends Pre-Academy over Surf C
- Surf B over Beach Perez
- Anaheim Surf over Real SoCal
- Surf A over Slammers A

Anybody want to pick an upset special? Last year Strikers Mirola unexpectedly beat Albion in the round of 16 on the way to the semi.

Maybe wasn’t CRL but I see a Game on YSR with surf A versus C and a 7-0 result. Maybe you can clarify when that occurred. Thanks
YSR has trouble with the Surf teams because they have similar names, and the B and C teams are coached by the same guy.

It does seem kind of odd, but I think it is because strikers black won the head to head game, so they have to be in before south valley. And strikers black can’t be in before slammers because slammers has less goals against than strikers.

Upset-Beach Perez over Surf B
Real SoCal over Anaheim Surf
I actually had a chance to watch the Strikers Mirola vs Albion last year waiting for my daughters game to start and their Defense is Legit. Looks like they fell short this year on their “goals for” not so much their “goals against”.
Overall I think it will come down to Final 4 of LAGSB, Slammers Salazar, Legends Pre Academy and Surf A.
Legends for the win.
Good luck to the final 16
