Transfer Portal - May 1

Seeing all these kids and posts on social about kids going into the portal, 2025’s coming in already signed with athletic money, most schools capping at 28. News today about a possible grandfather rule for rosters, but who knows….

It’s a game of musical chairs for these kids. These late portal entrants…are there going to be spots? Seems unlikely so many will be able to go D1 to D1 this late in the game. Crazy, crazy times…my 2025 is committed and picked a school where she has a great opportunity to play early…school had her major, she did not chase a sweatshirt. School kept the rosters in check. We feel very blessed and fortunate. I am already hearing stories of kids getting cut from friends with kids at different schools. It’s not a good thing. I guess I would say this for the ‘26 group, either pick a school you would without soccer for the academics, or pick a school where you can play if that is important…many kids from sweatshirt schools transferring and hitting the portal.

Rosters rules are still not settled…they should have pushed this to next year…some schools (smaller mid-majors) were smart and deferred until 2026…in other cases for the P4 it’s a way to pay the FB and BB players directly and keep their teams competitive. Except for Baylor BB, their whole team hit the portal 😳

Good question. I noticed ASU has a whopping 14 players on his spring roster. Don't know what he has coming in but it sure seems like he lost players since the season ended. I don't imagine getting transfers will be a problem for him but the next 10-12 days is going to be interesting.

Agree with you that doing it this year was bullshit.

I went and took a look at the ASU roster. Fifteen players gone. Looks like 6 termed out and 9 left. Those that left most did not play in 24. This is gonna be crazy.

I don't know what's going on in Tempe. He was probably close to losing his job, committed to the Euro route, managed to get an extension and now there's room for a dozen players. I can't imagine his recruiting class is that large. We know one of the players that left but haven't wanted to ask because, to your point, she never played.
