Biden "proved" over the summer that he could have done a lot more on immigration by clamping down then, something he didn't do in the 3 years prior.

When our politicians use their personal grudges to damage the course of our country, that's a problem and I don't care what color jersey you wear. Unlike JoeTato, Trump hasn't been a politician his entire career. He's been a CEO that had to learn a new game. The fact is, and I don't make excuses for the fact that Trump is a dick as a person, but other CAREER politicians like Pelosi used the game to fight him on everything.

The difference is that in 2024, when dems were calling him "Hitler, fascist, threat to democracy, felon, rapist, misogynist, etc", Americans didn't buy the bullshit anymore. They watched politics get weaponized and they cancelled it at the polls. And frankly, when you spend like a drunken sailor like we have for so long, why even have a debt ceiling? Are we paying $36T back anytime soon? It's a cartoon number already. I don't support removing boundaries for politicians but the reality is it's a fucking joke now.

$36T is a cartoon number, but the interest is now coming close to $700M annually. Irrespective of whether we are paying it back, the interest is an enormous drag in and of itself. I like having a debt ceiling, because it causes the pols to have to admit they are (all) incompetent regularly and ensures the actual debt remains in the public discourse. If there was none, we'd probably be way over $36T by now. As long as reelection rates are at the 90% or so, there is zero incentive for the Dems or GOP to do anything about it.

Yeah, except that it's not a game. It is... which is unfortunate... but being destructive to a country just because you don't want the other guy to be successful, is treasonous. Name calling of Trump helped get him elected the 2nd time. It saved us from Heels Up Harris and the disaster she would have been in office. So no, I'll take the name calling that he helped facilitate. In the end, it backfired on democrats.
