Today in Fascism

You spend 20 years asking your city council to block new housing. You were successful.

Then, when the RVs show up, you are upset that they don't live in the apartments you prevented.

If you don't like it, look in the mirror. There's the guy who caused the problem.

Block new housing? Or block low income housing that will destroy the community AND your property value? Look in the mirror and realize your party's attempt at buying votes, by helping a guy making $23k a year live in a $1.5M neighborhood, only helps $23k a year guy.

My wife spent 10yrs in DTLA. She finally was able to transfer out to an office closer to home. Everything you said is spot-on. Me and the kids would go have lunch with her on a few rare occasions. They saw it all off 4th/Hill. Lots of people overdosing in doorways. Walking the streets was like walking a minefield of crap bombs. Crazy people everywhere. I'd make my way back to the freeway via Skid Row to always emphasize to the kids what drugs do and the importance of an education and or a good solid job.

My favorite part is that democrat leaders would rather see businesses close than remove the bums & junkies blocking their entrances and harassing people on the street. I've yet to see or hear a single democrat tell me how this is a successful strategy.

The good news is, when business owners are forced to reopen somewhere else, JoeTato Biden will take credit for creating more jobs.

We were talking about RVs on the street and apartment construction.

Suddenly, you want to bring up covid vaccines, cash bail, the CA educational system, and George Gascon.

Pick one argument, on topic, and make it. Don’t just vent everything that didn’t come out in your morning dump.

RV's and apartment construction, much like vaccines, cash bail, education, welfare, etc. are all symptoms of the same disease you suffer from:

Libtardation

I would but part of the argument is showing you your pattern of behavior (blame those who don’t agree as being the problem) whilst showing you the reasons why the problem proliferates based on the policies of the elected officials, not those that voted against certain measures.

It’s like seeing the whole forest rather than a few leaves from a specific tree.

Right. It’s all connected, like the matrix.

You have a palm tree, an aspen, a blue spruce, a Joshua Tree, and a red oak. That’s not a forest. That’s five trees that have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

If you really think you have a link, explain it. Suppose you had a different DA. How would that help RV dwellers move into those apartments which your city never allowed to be built?

Related to that concept...

You have these Ds proclaiming their cities to be sanctuary cities. Pure virtue signaling. And when NY as an example gets a few thousand bused up there suddenly they are bitching about the cost and how they cannot afford to deal with it. And yet they advocate open borders and dont care about the cities close to the border that actually have to deal with the consequences of their policies.

Today in CA things are reaching a head where decades or bad policy and making life difficult for the average citizens. The virtue signaling and the laws passed have made things measurably worse.
There is a big problem on the left with them not being able to distinguish between empathy and enabling. This has exacerbated the problem, but I don't know many Republican California Mayors that are putting much of a dent in the homeless problem. I believe most politicians don't want to tackle it because it is a very complicated problem that can't be resolved in the short term. A lot easier just to virtue signal.

OMG, you are hilarious..

You should stick to teaching math as policy and reality just aren’t your forte. The DA aspect is just another cog in the system our Governor and many other Democrats proliferate. Which is why is there a similar problem in Portland and Seattle. Do they not have room for more housing as well?

They are all related.

They are all poor ideas from the same elected officials...who continually pass laws that make issues worse, hurt the little guy/middle class, etc.

Stop voting for the people that put in these various policies in place if you want to see change.

SF as an example hasnt had a repub mayor since the 60s and the last repub council member was late 60s or so.

At some point you would think people would wake up and realize that group of elected officials have let you down the wrong path...for decades.

Still off topic.

We were talking RV dwellers. Where do you think they are going to live if your city council blocks almost all new apartment buildings?

I mean, go ahead and elect a DA who will bust up the organized crime shoplifting rings. You have my vote.

But what does that have to do with using zoning to block all new hosing so that people have to live in their cars?

You are talking RV dwellers, I’m addressing how policy got us and keeps us in this Walking Dead like atmosphere. If they can afford an RV they can also move to an area they can afford to live, no? Well, at least the small minority who want to get a job and a structured place to live, pay bills, taxes, etc.

Since you want to stay on topic, let’s go back to the beginning. Please with a simple yes or no, have you seen the homeless or unhoused situation in CA get better under Newsome’s tenure?

Actually, no. Take a minute to look up rent on a 2 bedroom apartment in your neighborhood. It will be above $3,000.

Then think about what two adults make as dishwashers or gardeners. It’s about 60K, total- assuming they both get 40 hours every week.

That two bedroom apartment would cost them well over half of their pretax income.

This is why you see scooters and little kid bicycles strapped to the back of the RV. You’re not looking at a meth lab, You’re looking at the home of a working family.

You lost him at "want to get a job and pay bills/taxes".

I guess there's no option to live somewhere 2 bedroom apartments aren't $3000 a month? Are these the same people that continue having children they can't afford?

Sure. The family could move to the bad school district with a 1.5 hour commute.

Mom and Dad are going to miss every soccer practice and every teacher conference. How well do you think the kids are going to turn out?

Yes, those are decisions that must be made. If you can’t afford housing, why are you having kids?

Why do you and the far left want to eliminate accountability in society?

Who the hell are you to tell poor people that they don’t deserve to have a family?

Far left? I’m arguing that the problem is the government. You have people who work hard and would like to spend that money on an apartment. Unfortunately, the government has made it illegal to build the apartment they want to pay for.

Get rid of the government intervention, and the problem goes away.

I suspect you vote every year for the same clowns who have been in charge for decades. The ones who at every chance increase gov oversight of every aspect of our lives.
Not really. I usually split my ticket between conservative Dems and RINOs. Sometimes I get stuck choosing between progressive and MAGA, but I don’t like either one.

It does amuse me that I am arguing for property rights and deregulation, while Slobo and Kicker are arguing for government intervention.
