The trio is trying to avoid being forced to testify under oath in a civil investigation, saying their statements will simply be used in a parallel criminal investigation that could threaten them with prison time.

But that's how Bill Cosby got off. A judge ruled that his true statements in a civil case, where he admitted criminal behavior, could not be the basis of the criminal prosecution against him.
