The college sports bubble is going to burst. With NIL and the arms race at the Power 4 schools for the revenue generating sports (football, MBB, WBB), it is going to crater all the other sports. Private schools can do whatever they want- its their money, but I can't believe that public schools can continue to fund so much of the athletics dept out of general funds. There is more money today in society that ever, but it is spread to way more interests than ever. Case in point, my son loves hockey. I grew up in AZ and ice doesn't exist. It melts before it even hits the bottom of the glass when it comes out of the fridge dispenser. But due to modern technology (i.e. them crazy internets) he can know everything there is no know about boxing on skates. There are so many other diversions available today. It will impact even the BIG sports at some point in time. Less eyeballs means less revenue. College sports are on a crash course to disaster (meaning that all the Olympic sports will fade away).
