AYSO United is not getting as many teams in San Diego as they thought. Looks like 85% of the teams will be going to different clubs. Talk about a slap in the face for AYSO United.
It's less of a slap in the face for AYSO United than people know that AYSO United is locked out of a lot of the letter leagues and if you want to play at the highest levels you are going to have to go elsewhere.AYSO United is not getting as many teams in San Diego as they thought. From what I know with about 15 years' experience of AYSO, United is the only AYSO club circuit, with one more level Alliance sprouting up, not too sure what the difference in levels is on this one, but appears will be the highest level in AYSO.Maybe the problem is that nobody can keep track of how many different AYSOs there are (United, Extra, Select, Matrix - WTF?)
Well the AYSO San Diego group did put their G2008 flight 2 team down in flight 4 to win state cup, I mean that's something, right ?

hmm, wow.
Definitely not a good look but the team was done and disbanding. The team wasn't very good to begin with and lost half the team after the season. This was a last "hurrah" for the remaining players more than a "soccer scam coach/club"...This classic Sandbagger move is one of the biggest indicators of a soccer scam coach/club in progress.
While I can see the value of an AYSO United team, most of them find out real fast that "the grass isn't greener on the other side". The problem is that most AYSO United teams are in the same areas as really good to elite club teams, therefore leaving the AYSO United teams with players and teams that can't compete with those club teams. I've been the referee for many games involving AYSO United teams and most of the time, it doesn't end up good. There was one U12 game that the team went up against a pre-ECNL team. I think the final score was 12-1. Yikes!!!! IMO, the only AYSO Region that can hang with those club teams is the South LA region (1031 I think). They're legit....
My kids former ayso United team went deep into state cup three years running (and won once) back when coast was still a thing. The issue is in the teen years they begin to hemorrhage their best players since ayso is for the most part locked out of letter league. Just my opinion from limited observation but the other thing is parents at the younger ages seem to approach it like little league: the point is to chase the trophy rather then develop (so when technical play becomes more important in the teen years they find it suddenly doesn’t work anymore)…yeah I know this happens a lot in other places too but much more so ymmv.It really does vary. No, none of them may be championship winning teams. But if you just look at one age for a moment, 2010B, there is an AYSO United team ranked #177 in state (and cleaning up in Coast), and one ranked #723 in state. There are 738 rated 2010B teams in all of California. So one of them is in the 76th percentile (not bad), and one of them is in 2nd percentile (only 15 teams rated weaker in the entire state).
In 2008B, the top AYSO United team shows #109, and is in E64. In 2009B, the top AYSO United team shows #125.
