Girls Academy 2 Finally Coming!

After Albion gets ECNL, they will have 4 months to rebuild. I expect it will be a similar level to Sharks and Rebel.
Getting ECNL is big IF. I can't see that happening especially if that threatens their boys MLS next. If it did happen you may be right on the level but I just don't see that happening. Plus, getting to the level of Legends SD is nothing to brag about. Where is the talent going to come from to level up? Legends SD is not very strong imo, and Rebels are ok. City girls aren't driving down there just be a part of ECNL. I mean the legends can't even convince the City girls to drive to MIra Mesa. Why would girls leave the other two? That leaves Surf defectors and most of those girls are probably unhappy because of playing time and they aren't getting playing time because they aren't at the level of the others. Most small clubs have already been picked apart by the top clubs at this point so that leaves little for undiscovered talent. So, yeah, not sure how they level up.

My daughter's GA club has destroyed every ECRL team they have ever played. ECRL on the West Coast is just as bad as DPL, as far as we have come across. Most of the better players at ECRL in the younger age groups end up at GA clubs due to the college exposure they get/fed up of the lies of "you will get moved up" by the ECNL coach.

You get the odd decent ECRL or DPL team at the younger ages of 11v11 but they soon get broken up.
There's only 1 (City) GA team in all of SoCal that is capable of that and I bet they would struggle against some of the better ECRL teams from KOGE and Surf.

The exceptions don't make the rule. Watch high school soccer and it's very obvious 95% of the GA girls are on par with RL.

City GA is good. There are many D1 commits. They are better than the average NL team. In San Diego, they are just behind Surf.

You surely arent saying that players should be judged based on high school soccer...

Aren't KOGE and Surf the exception? Oh, and btw, the younger City GA teams (11's/12's) would have no problem with those 2 ECRL teams. They would actually be top 5/6 in ECNL... again, since we are hijacking this thread with this team is better than this team, I really hope the new moves made by the GA strengthen the league and bring in better competition. At the end the day, these girls deserve to play with the best competition out there.

Things are changing fast. There's been 3 ECNL clubs in the DC area that have switched to GA recently.

City GA should join ECNL, but it will not happen. My bet is still Albion GA will become ECNL.

You need to go to a youngers (SOCAL) boys tournament. City (Because of MLSN) has 3-5 boys teams at every age group. Other big ECNL girls clubs have 1 maybe 2 (because of ECNL).

When you see it Citys choice to keep their girls in GA, DPL, SOCAL makes more sense.

At the end of the day clubs exist to make money. City makes more money with MLSN+GA than ECNL.

Even if City switches to ECNL, it will not lose too much on the boys' side. At most, they may lose a couple of top boys players, but they will gain top girls. B teams and below will see no changes.

The amount of money clubs made isn't directly dependent on league.

With ECNL you get an A and B team at each age group. This is why MLS and GA are creating MLSN2 and GA2. Where clubs make all the real $$$ is the 3rd and 4th competitive teams then after all the rec teams.

For whatever reason City has chosen MLSN and GA.

That's pretty big news- what ECNL clubs in the DC area have switched to GA recently?

Only rationale to add would be to add the 18th team to the SW Conference...

I dont see City or Albion moving over so in MHO I think there are no adds....

If City moves to ECNL, it means dead for GA in the Southwestern league. It will have more impact than those clubs switch.

There is one ECNL club that moved: NVA. That was a move for MLSN consolidation. The other clubs you mentioned are RL (rather than ECNL clubs.) It's important to make that distinction. I'm sure it was just an oversight on your part. I was VERY surprised when you posted that 3 ECNL teams in the DC area had left ECNL for GA. That would be HUGE. But it's simply not the case. So, maybe things aren't changing *that fast.

What does "MLSN Consolidation" mean?

NVA girls ECNL switched to GA. I assume you mean more clubs with MLSN and ECNL will be switching to GA? To "consolidation".

Call it what you want clubs are switching over. Last year at this time both GA and ECNL started with less interesting announcements working their way up to bigger clubs. I assume that they're probably going to do the same thing this year.

I didn't mean any offense. Nothing to be worked up about. What are the other 2 ECNL teams in the DC area you were referring to?

To claim that any club is in GA rather than ECNL by their choice is a hoot....šŸ¤£
Their are lots of rumors that i've heard about City not being in ECNL that aren't related to the MLSN + GA partnership. Most think it's a mix of Surf blocking them out because of the threat they would be given location and talent in the area, and Michael Duggan (I don't know the entire story there but there is a lot of chatter about it). I'm sure there are a lot of layers but it's not as simple as MLSN and GA being a package deal.

If City and ECNL executives could put off their differences and see the bigger picture, ECNL should take City GA into ECNL. Anyway, City is a solid 2nd after Surf here. This will be huge and hit all GA enthusiasts with a big blow.
