G2010...how’s the season going 2019?

Blues have always had competitive teams. They cornered the market on top players for some time when there was a fence around ECNL that kept the other clubs out. DA put a big dent in that with kids no longer needing to drive to OC to get the high level competition. Their playing style is archaic, very much in line with previous USWNTs, fast athletic players with a very direct approach. Works very well in the youngers. The game’s slowly evolving, will be interesting to see if they can evolve too, with a staff that has very much been entrenched in the good old days.

Some great games at Oceanside so far. Albion and Galaxy continue to improve and look really great. Slammers vs Albion in PKs will determine who will advance to the Semi.

How did other teams do in Slammers, Albion and Copa Del Mar?

Slammers Cup has been very competitive, with most games being decided by just a couple goals.

Even the Eagles got tested today by Slammers PA and OC Surf, and they should get tested again by an improved Legends team, which might meet them again in championship game.
 
Albion beat Slammers Cruz in PKs to advance to the Semi. SDSC played Galaxy SD in the Semi and won 6-0. Albion played Blues in the Semi and the game went to PKs and Albion won back-back PK games to play SDSC in the finals. Congrats to SDSC for winning Albion Cup. Lots of great teams for the upcoming season and excited for the next tournaments.

I talked to a Dad from Eagles and he said that they were missing 2 starters and only had 1 sub all weekend.

Watched both games first game in the morning eagles and legends were 1-0 and goal came right before half with legends having more chances and better opportunities. Didn’t look like the coach played his starters the second half and eagles ran away with it. In the finals legends made no subs the whole game and absolutely dominated it from start to finish and could have easily won 6 or 7-0. Their forwards just could not put away their chances. I was talking to some of their parents and they said that they have been off about a month which I’m assuming all teams have been on that break but legends was clearly the better tea by far in the final game. I was a bit surprised it ended 0-0 in 100 degrees and the tournament made them play overtime. Legends gave up 2 goals and lost 2-0. I heard they were also missing their top keeper as she was down in San Diego with the 09 legends team.

I said this back in the legends tournament when legends played Albion they are a whole new team and look very very good. I think top teams this upcoming season will be SDSC, eagles, Albion, blues Rennie, and legends. I think slammers Cruz is on the fall which can happen to teams if you only recruit and don’t properly develop players.

While the Legends are better than last season, they're not the caliber of the Eagles, who were missing two very strong players including their best. Slammers PA and Surf OC also battled Eagles hard, but much of that had to do with Eagles missing those 2 key players.

I still think there's still clear a first tier of Blues, SDSC and Eagles, and a tier 2 that includes some really strong teams like Albion and Legends at the top with some teams like Slammers PA, Surf OC, Rebels, Slammers Cruz, perhaps Galaxy OC, and probably a few teams I haven't seen yet or that are new to flight 1. I will say that I think the gap is closing between the tier 1 and the tier 2, as evidenced by Albion beating the Blues in that finals, but that's inevitably going to happen as the years progress and we get closer to the DA.

Bummer not to see Legends, Ole or Slammers Cruz in Surf Cup. Any other teams (Texas. Cal North, others) you would like to see play?
