G2010...how’s the season going 2019?

Absolutely I agree totally and that’s why I think blues and SDSC are the two top teams in those age groups and those coaches do a fantastic job with that. I also again am not saying whether it was right or not by that coach. Does anyone know if he changed girls around? Did he move players into different positions? Did he make his goalie and defenders forwards and vice versa? If so, and it gave his goalie and defenders chances to score then that probably made those girls extremely happy seeing as they might not get a lot of chances for that. Did the coach put restrictions on the girls? Like going back to the keeper? Complete a certain amount of passes? Etc? I would love to know if someone was there watching that game and if things like this happened.

I wasn't at the game but I have seen Legends play on numerous occasions as I have the Slammers team and Albion team in their bracket. Albion is much better than Legends. Even if you haven't seen them play all you have to do is look at their 0 - 1 effort vs Rennie in the finals as evidence. Albion's scoreline vs FC Premier was 6 - 0. Now granted Albion's coach knew they were in the finals so he most likely rested top players, switched girls around, etc. With that same logic it would seem Legends did not have the same approach. It's neither here nor there at this point, but as you know all coaches aren't made equal when it comes to "the point where you call off the hounds." Most of the coaches I've seen turn it off around 8 goals, and then if a few more slip in so be it, or you give your goalie a goal or the girl that rides the bench, but do it at "10" or "12" not at "17."

Didn't Albion just play Legends in pool play at the State Cup and lose 7-0? That was only a few months ago. That's a big statement to make that "Albion is much better than Legends".
 
If I remember random chatter correctly Albion had one or more 2010s playing up last year but are now playing their age this season. No clue if that's true but it might explain a results improvement. Also, GDA clubs like Albion would generally be expected to improve their rosters as the kids get older I'd think.

I apologize I was going off of "post State Cup" and, yes, let me strip "much" from my assessment and just say "better" then.

Without knowing for sure, you're probably spot on when you go from getting blown out by Legends to then beating them by 2 and staying within a goal of Rennie.
 
Yes I was going to say as well legends definitely best them 6-0 less than a month ago and now lost 4-2 so I doubt Albion is that far ahead of legends. Sounds like youth soccer and two competitive teams getting the best of each other each time which obviously means legends isn’t far behind blues Rennie either. Again, bold statement to say that. Also, I believe slammers Cruz is playing legends this weekend in a tournament right? And didn’t Cruz lose to blues? What was the score does anyone know? And Is blues playing this weekend or SDSC?
 
And no offense to Albion but I believe they are the weakest DA club in the entire SoCal region and give up the most goals out of any club as well. So again I would highly argue that statement of them developing kids better than obviously a blues, slammers, or legends organization is definitely false. I also saw a story posted that legends has had the most college commits this last season out of any club in the United States. So again, Just more points to not agree with that statement.
 
And lastly, I believe Albion beat slammers PA 3-2 in legends cup and legends also beat slammers PA 3-2 in legends cup so again I think results show both teams are comparable and alike with their level of players.

Fair enough. Given that they lost only 1-0 to Blues shows they are a good team. It'll be fun to see what happens in the next few tournaments.

2 to 1 Blues. Could have been the same score in favor of SDSC too. Good close game. SDSC had more quality chances but couldn't convert. Also Blues is missing a couple kids to softball this weekend.

Watched most of this game. The Blues impose their will on you eventually over a 50 minute game, applying consistent pressure with the force they play with. Not always the prettiest to watch, but the brand of soccer they play almost always results in the win.

Congrats to blues. Again they are the team to beat in this age group and second to none. Beating SDSC twice this weekend and without a few of their players it’s clear no one in this age group will beat blues. They are strong physical and get the job done. Also, saw that legends beat slammers Cruz this weekend in the Memorial Day tournament so congrats to that group as well. Was anyone at that game? Saw slammers beat them in bracket play but lost in the finals.

Not always the prettiest an understatement. It is borderline unwatchable but at 7v7 I can't see anyone beating them with any consistency. They make no effort to play soccer but ram it down your throat again and again until you make a mistake. The big kicks and long throw ins are just too much for most 8/9 year old girls to deal with at this point. I sat at the corner to watch, listening to the coach was hilarious. "Kick it" "get back" "run faster" were the main directions. Not one real soccer related piece of instruction, just constant pushing. It was interesting.

Serious inquiry. If it doesn't change as they get older, does that imply that the results will be the same? that the same teams that have the bigger/faster/stronger and more athletic players will end up on top (even if they play kickball)? I'm curious for those who have experience with older girls who have seen the progression over the years. If true, where does that leave player development and playing soccer 'the right way'? Maybe this should be a topic unto itself but since it was brought up here ...

No, the results will not be the same as they get older. Big, fast kickers have a huge advantage in the younger younger ages (U7 - U10). But I would say U11 is where you see a transition of where being big/fast/strong becomes less effective if technical skills are not developing. At U11 you move to 9v9 and you don't have those big open spaces where if you beat one defender you are going straight to goal...instead you have to dribble around 3 or 4 players in tight spaces if you want to take it alone. The more successful teams at the U13/U14 are those where all of the players are technical (and fast) and play as a team. Also, at the U12/U13 girls start growth spurts...little quick technical players could end up shooting up a foot and the big/strong players may not be so big after a while.
