Just wondering what foreign tournaments Canada, Europe etc. people have experienced and if they found it an enjoyable experience for the players.

Gothia Cup was well-run and the city seems to welcome all participants, including the parents.

MIC Cup was fun and well run. Things are pretty spread out, so it seems like you spend a lot of time on buses. Not sure if that is the same at all of them.

We attended Gothia Cup a few years ago. It was an amazing experience. We played teams from Sweden, Lebanon, Czech Republic, Georgia (the country) and England. It's as much a international soccer festival as a tournament. The clubs aren't as prestigious or the teams as talented as MIC, but the overall experience is far better (at least from those I know attended MIC). The Gothia Cup has opening ceremonies with over 45,000 in attendance and a whole downtown soccer experience with fields, games, entertainment, etc. It is our families best memory of youth soccer. Just make sure you go with a fun group of parents.

Last year, my son and daughter did the Villarreal Yellow Cup Easter in Villarreal, Spain with IPA (International Prospect Academy). Most of the games were at the training grounds of Villarreal CF. Got to tour the Villarreal Stadium and spent a day in Valencia which is like 90 minutes south. Everyone had a great time except for the part where Air France lost 3 of 4 going to Spain which turned up 3 days later and again lost my son's bag coming back for 2 weeks.
