Close games...

Silver South
FCGS 1-0 AC Brea
Another close game between them. I am interested in some details of how AC Brea looks. Anyone?

The LAPFC V FCGS game was a nail biter - 1-0 in favor of LAPFC to hand FCGS their first league play loss. Great intensity from both teams. LAPFC had 4 subs (carry 10 on roster); they needed all of the extra players as several went off in succession from hard hits in the second half. It was a gritty win for LAPFC, one that could truly make a season and build confidence leading into league cup.

Some notable Bronze results:
BC - FC Man United 2-0 Empire, if both these team can finish their season without a let down they will share 1st place
BD - IE Surf Graff 1-1 Apple Valley, this secured Surf's position at the top of this bracket
BS - Canyon FC 2-1 FC Golden State OC, Canyon still has a tough match coming this weekend vs NHB Black but its results will have little affect on them winning this bracket

Big weekend in the silver brackets...
South - with the recent win by LAPFC, south is now up in the air...FRAM plays both LAPFC and FCGS....could be the deciding weekend for this group!

North - SoCal plays NVSC and Eagles...Sunday in Camarillo should be exciting and for the division...

Definitely need to keep an eye on the South. The top three teams are now in the mix thanks to LAPFC.

With FRAM's win against LAPFC, they have set-up a winner take all against FCGS tomorrow. I'll be in Camarillo for the North's big game to determine leadership in that division. Tomorrow afternoon should be fun!

Am I wrong but why are all the top level teams in the Developmental league? How do Coast league teams stack up against clubs like Arsenal, Legends, Strikers, Blues etc? Will teams from each of these leagues play each other in State? If so how many Coast League Clubs have gone on to win state? Being new to club at the 06 level and playing Coast League I seen just a few select teams appear to be very good but then I saw a few teams/games in the Developmental league this past weekend and the difference in the level of play was huge. I don't see very many teams from our Coast league being able to compete at State. Can anyone provide some info on this subject?

Here is a link to 2016 Cal South State Cup Presidents round of 16 to finals. All of these teams got reconfigured with the age changes so not sure how representative it is.

There was another recent thread on CSL v SCDSL. I'm not sure how or why it happened, but SCDSL is clearly a higher level of competition for younger girls. There are a few teams in CSL that can and do compete with SCDSL teams, but not a lot. Interestingly, I do not believe the same disparity exists on the boys side.

That's last year's 05 president's cup, not the 06. The majority of the 06 teams from CSL participated in the Governor's cup for the 06 division. Realistically, there is no major competition in the CSL league, in the 06 girl group, against teams from the scdls league. The highest division in the CSL league is silver. The scdls league has a gold division. Even through, some of those team are silver teams trying to play up at a gold division.

Thank you for the link. Very interesting. I see that one Coast League (Crown City Academy-So Cal) did well but clearly SCDSL teams are the ones to advance when it counted. As you noted many teams have reconfigured with age changes so I can't see Crown City So Cal advancing that far again. They been doing well this year per their record but what level of competition are they really getting except Eagles? Like many clubs several of their experienced girls have since moved on to their respective age groups. FC Golden State PDA 06 is surprisingly playing Coast also but talented enough to be playing in SCDSL so I was puzzled with that. The disparity in terms of level of play is definitely more visible with the girls side of things. Don't get me wrong there are some very talented girls players in the Coast league from 06's down to 99 but most of these girls will in my opinion eventually find their way over to SCDSL especically as they mature. From what I learned this weekend if they are to really want to engage in higher level play that is more consistent and offers greater opportunity for getting on a college recruiters radar than SCDSL is the place to be. Thank you SCDSL parents who enlightened my wife and I on this. We are happy with our team since we are new to club but we are going to have our daughter put in the work and try to get her on a SCDSL team next spring, that is where the real competition is playing and to be the best you have to play with the best.

With a kid under 14, it would seem more important to have them with a team that has a coach that both the parent and the child love. Keeping them playing, improving, and loving the game seems to be the most important thing during these early years. The top girls eventually will move to a ECNL or DA team, but we are really only talking about the top 1% for this group, aren't we?

I agree I don't think Crown City Academy-So Cal will do as well. My understanding is that team only has about 3 returning players from last year. The rest come from either flight 2 teams or bronze teams. I also hear Eagles lost a few of their best '06 players so probably not as strong as they were last year either.
