Climate and Weather

Tell you what. Let's compare my plan for used windmill blades to your plan for the heavy metals in coal smoke.

The windmill blades go in landfills. The mercury bioaccumulates in seafood so we can eat it.

Which is worse?
That's a lot of landfills. I guess we can ship them off to all those lithium mines and have em' bury them there after the kids are done digging.

Since you posted about mercury being a by product of burning coal, and I agree it is an issue, can you tell me exactly how much of a problem it is. Not a precentage.. no. Give me an actual amount of mercury being spewed into the atmosphere, that is then showing up in the seafood we eat. Oh..and make sure it's from a plant that uses Bromine.

Did you look up what a take permit is yet? Does that qualify as "killing" time?

Well folks, it looks like we got two teams to choose from. We see what Team Expola, Husker and Dad stand for. They don't care about folks like me. They care for Ukrainians over me. They want me to take jabs, wear a mask when told and STFU or get fired, lose my ability to make a living so I too could buy food, shelter and clothing for my family. They want me to change how I live so the weather & climate won't change and just stay 78 degrees every day. They want to talk our boys into cutting off their penis and they want our girls to mutilate their breast. They want me to submit to their bullshit way of life and their PAY-FOR-PLAY scams and 100% support their 2030 Agenda of the Great Reset. These people are not only stupid, their evil. Many of you were purchased by these assholes and you didn't even know it. They got you by the balls. However, they lost. You can NOT change Mother Earth. Mother is pissed off at the men on earth and the men on earth have mother wounds. The other choice is Trump. Oh boy, who should I pick? Who will help my man Crush more, Trump or Surf Futbol and his crew? Who will protect the birth of babies? Who will help seek retribution, revenge and Justice on these liars and cheats? I'm going with MAGA 2024 by a long shot. The other team has Sleepy Joe. Newsome is out. Michele might jump in to the Dem race if Joe never wakes up from his nap. Choose wisely my Fellow Americans.

Can it supplant 50%?
The thing that most dont understand is that you have to have reliable baseload power. So that means when you have solar and windmills you still have to have traditional plants. Not only do we have to have those plants...but they have to be running. You cannot just turn them on or off when the solar or wind is working. So with solar and wind...we are still using traditional power plants and emitting pollution.

We've probably all seen this reflective solar farm. Crazy technology, but it vaporizes birds.

Yep. That's just solar. Every alternative energy source comes with a price.

Worse? Thinking that windmills and solar can effectively provide the on demand baseload power a society needs.
Don't be silly. Solar is for handling mid day peaks when all the A/C is on.

What you're talking about is energy storage. Not just batteries. Things like paired reservoir hydropower. Or car chargers which turn themselves on and off in response to utility needs. (Not pie in the sky anymore. I got an ad for one last week.)

Did you actually think you're the only one in the world who knows that it's dark at night? Yes, we are aware.

Today's curves --

While I believe batteries can be part of the equation, it basically makes us China's bitch. As far as hydroelectric goes, we're removing dams not building them and dams are incredibly environmentally damaging, particularly to water quality. So again it comes back to nuclear.

Actually peak energy use is between 4-9 pm, not much solar production during those hours.

The existing big hydro dams in the western USA pretty much use up the hydro capacity available, while also providing flood control and water supply. Nobody is tearing those dams down.

The solar production during the hottest part of the day offsets the need for the use of other resources which can then be shifted into production when needed later.

No one is building them in the US either. Mead and Powell evaporate a shit ton (that's a technical term) of water. But yeah neither are going away in the near term.

Just because we are removing dams doesn't mean it's smart.

Snow pack isn't going to do the trick in 30 years. We need to vastly increase our water storage capacity. Some of it will be groundwater recharge, but we probably need more dams, too.

So how long before all this infrastructure is built and online in California? It better be in less then 12 years..much sooner.

Did you figure out how much mercury is making it into our seafood yet?

And I take it you struck out on take permits. You're not much of an outdoorsman are you?

There's another byproduct of creating these mega dams. Earthquakes..

I'll let D4 and Richard dive into this.

Kinda funny. I recall posting how instead of building a bullet train the state should be building more reservoirs. Richard aka @espola blasted me for that post. Hey Dick..did you suddenly change your mind?

Richard doesn't agree with you..

Enjoy your game of “I know the special term”. It’s still juvenile.
