Blues 06 - For those that want to talk about it

A side question about the blues, and sorry to go off topic a bit. a few months ago, I read that the ranch will no longer be utilized for soccer and the blues and west coast needed to find new homes. Did this occur and, if so, did the blues find a new home? And how is this going to effect the tournament season...

You base a coaches ability to "develop" on number of titles won?
Come on, how can you argue that? Let's say that if a coach recruits a group of U10, and by the time that they are U16 the group has won multiple national championships and a handful of the players are in the NT pools, how can you say that the coach is not developing the players? I have no idea about how they work (and probably if I knew how they do it I would conclude that I rather have my girl developed differently), but how can you argue that, after many years from recruitment, massively winning is not a sign of development?

First, you have to look at their roster and see how different it is from U10 to u16. It is one thing if he has an 80%+ retention rate but something totally different if there are only a couple of players from that U10 team.

Regarding YNT players, if you recruit some of the best players in the age group you are naturally going to get some with invites to camp. The question is how many make a competition team, matriculate through the system and do well in college.

Regarding winning and development. I just think that winning is too simplistic a metric to measure development. What wins at U10 doesn't necessarily win at U13 which doesn't necessarily translate to winning at U16/17 win it counts the most. Personally I measured development by how the players improved over time and more specifically how MY player improved. My player never played on a championship club team but she was developed nicely and is doing great in college. The teams that won the trophies at ULittle ages don't necessarily correspond with the most successful players in her graduating class.

If you are talking about the B brothers they are good skills trainers, recruiters and BS'ers. Not so sure about their record of developing players and definitely don't like how they coach a game or talk to young impressionable women. They say the craziest things to kids! I remember what one of them said to my daughter when she was playing against their JSerra HS team once! She used to train with them at the ULittle ages and told us after about 6-8 months that she wanted a different trainer!
Not Bakers. Bobak.

You've moved the goalposts. Your op never said anything about having a group of players from 10 yrs old and then winning with that same group, it just talked about winning things. There's a quite a few coaches who make a living out of inheriting teenaged teams where all the work has been done and all they need to do is set the lineup...

Fascinating that you feel the need to talk crap about the coaches/club...why are you so angry if it isn't your dd's club/team? My dd used to play for Rennie and we know several families in this age group at the club. All the girls from his u9 team from last year came back this year (I'm not sure how you calculate turnover, but it seems like pretty low turnover to me). While I realize anything short of a title may not be "showing results" to you, that team also went to State Cup semifinals last year. Those girls are on this 2006 or 2007 teams this year and still competing in State Cup this weekend. But again, not sure why you care so much or feel the need to talk poorly about them.

Not to get into a back and forth but I really wouldn't phrase my comments as talking crap. The truth is what it is regarding the club and their development. I'm sure several parents are happy with the club and coaching obviously or they wouldn't be able to field the amount of teams they do. That being said, I think for parents that understand what the concept of youngers club soccer and player development should consist of, it's a hard sell to be a part of those types of clubs. It has nothing to do with wins and losses it's about how the kids develop as players and people. I wonder why only 2 of his girls are returning this year then if he does such a great job coaching and as you stated his team this year is the same as last then he has had two years minimum to develop them yet he is only keeping two for this next season? I have seen that team and their players and there is definately talent and athleticism on it. I get it you may have had what you feel was a great experience but that feeling of a great experience doesn't make him a good coach or them a good club. Contradictory at best. It's up to each family to decide what is best for their individual child's development and goals. That obviously will not be the same for everyone at every club that's why there are so many clubs out there. If any one club had it all then all the top kids would only be there. I'm sure everyone has pros and cons for each club they have and or will be involved with. That said my observations and opinions of the situation are in my eyes spot on and correct so hardly talking crap!

When you start a sentence like "The fact that...", I think many would take your statements as being presented as facts, not opinions. And in fact, much of what you state about Rennie and that particular team is not spot on or correct, so I was just pointing that out. Also, you are missing the numbers on his team this year and last year; it split into 2006 and 2007, so several of this year's 2006 team hasn't been under him for multiple years. I think most (maybe all) of the girls that were with him for multiple years from his U9 team last year will be on "A" teams somewhere next year, either at Blues (06 or 07) or with another club, so my opinion is that he must have been somewhat successful developing them. Oh, and the fact that my daughter had a great experience with him and also developed does in fact make him a good coach, at least for my daughter (which is ultimately all that really matters to me). Finally, your sentence about "parents that understand the concept of youngers and player development" is in fact talking crap about every current youngers Blues parent, and I think you knew that when you wrote it. Best of luck to your dd wherever she is playing.

Good luck to your daughter as well

I don't have a problem with using a phone as a timer. Does she use it track playing time for subs?
If not, you really shouldn't have to look at it more than a few times per half.
I have a plastic timex watch. It has a stopwatch function. Works pretty good when I remember to turn it on.
Maybe the team should chip for an apple watch to remove any concerns.

@Soccer123 shenanigans? Neon? You know it's Lime and Royal. You watched our team enough to know it's not Neon come on now. If you look at it too long I guess you could call it Neon but you know better.

It's called
The

They recruited the best keeper in the country for this age group. Just go ask Surf and Legends. Lol

It's called the Feb Suprise that certain clubs are famous for. We can't develop our own so what we will be doing is bringing over an entire team from another club and they will play flight one too so by NEXT year the B bros will have their true A team. Suprise!
Expect many many more Feb Suprises across all lovely age groups
