Maybe Inflated his ego more, but its been a terrible financial decision for him (which was a very predictable outcome). Now, Tesla is trading at about the same price as 11/5, so he's lost nothing financially, and has gained government contracts, plus we had the unprecedented auto car sale on the WH lawn.Sorry, but the narrative doesn't follow the facts. IDK about Trump's 2nd term, but he lost significant net worth 1st term. Musk has lost substantial net worth during his stint in politics. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Musk hasn't received any new contracts since joining the Trump administration. Even Bloomberg didn't have an increase in net worth during his term as mayor. I believe he spent more than he recovered.

Competitive contracts and not subsidies. No other company can come close to what SpaceX can provide in terms cost and competency for space related exploration and defense. How did Boeing do with the ISS? SpaceX was the only company that could return the astronauts and cosmonaut in a timely and successful manner. SpaceX also offers fixed price contracts unlike other contractors that are typically cost-plus (far riskier) contracts
