How’s the 2023-24 season going?

That is a large haul and some mighty talent from one team. It's usually how champion teams are formed. Poach or in some cases buy the top teams best players and then make a combo team and soon National Champion. I do remember the SDSC players. That team was a tough out with Ulittles when my dd team played them in State Cup.
Just like how if the 2010 blues team would have stuck together and not been split between the slammers and blues current 2010 teams I’m pretty sure that blues team would still be dominating the surf team today like they did the sdsc team back in the day.

What money can buy in youth soccer. My dd old Blues team won State Cup. Next year US Soccer and GDA mandated we change to Calendar year. Many 04s were let loose so to speak and Surf snatched 5 top Blues 04 players. Blues beat them every time and Surf wanted that #10 Natty. If Blues took Surf's top 5 04s, then the blues would have won a natty. I got blamed and mocked on here by some dude named Fact and a few others. They accused me of poaching the blues players and forming a National Champion type of team. It was complete hogwash bro. It seems it's very hard to keep a top team together. Bakers will be the last. Coach Tad coach 7 teams for 6 years for a total of 42 years. He would take the from U11 until U18. A true class act. He cut a few every year but that's life. Most of players would stay together, travel together, eat together and play champion soccer together. They would be so close when a player from his 7 teams would get married, they all went. Them days are over.
That’s a definite fact. Not with parents now. It’s just one massive competition.

Was interested in having my daughter join this team for the start of 24-25. Saw them play this past weekend and it was not the same team.
Injuries?
Players Left?
Coaching Change?
Sure sounds like they could use your daughter and others since they appear to have a smaller sized roster. Curious though, if you saw them play and are asking if there was a coaching change, was it a different coach?

Koge over Surf 2-1. Each team got a red card. Very even game with Surf missing a lot of chances early and Koge coming back to take the win.
Who got the first red? How much later til next team got a red? Where they good calls? What chances did they miss? Crossbar shot and should of won chances or just missed a pass or two or called offsides? Everyone present or injuries or top players at YNT Camp?

Crush, you are trying to get me in trouble! I can offer up a few items. First red card was on koge, called for a “last man” foul just outside the box, then a similar call on Surf just outside their box. Neither resulted in a goal. Surf could have scored perhaps 3-4 goals in the first 15 minutes but due to an offside goal called back, numerous shots over the goal from relative short range, etc. Koge’s goals were quality efforts, first being a 1v1 with their forward (who is big and strong) getting through Surfs center back and I can’t remember the exact circumstance of the second goal. The impressive thing about Koge is they are a hospital/patched up team with many players playing hobbled or not playing at all while Surf was at full strength. A great win for Koge. All the national camp players were there.

One more thing. Surf’s right winger was killing Koge. Koge’s coach then made a strategic adjustment and in my humble opinion, it won the game for Koge. That’s the impact that good game coaching can make.

Tough loss but honest & humble feedback. Koge deserved the win and if coach Koge doesn't make the adjustments at half, maybe a tie or a win 2-1 Surf. Are they now #1 with this win?

One of the best couches ever in the US once told me,” it's not about this game, it’s about winning the last game.”

no new news on the 10’s? Who’s winning the championship this year? MVLA?
The easy picks are Surf, Koge, or MVLA.

Eclipse looked good at Phoenix. I don't know much about the east coast teams.

Right now, I'm watching whether Koge and Surf can hold on to their top 11 spots. (Top 11 teams don't face each other in group.)

Penn Fusion (PA), Charlotte (NC), and Bethesda (MD) can hang with the the SW conference playoff teams, but its pretty shallow after that. PDA Blue (NJ) is much improved from this age group this year as well, and starting to look like their normal dominant selves. You do not want to see any of three qualifying teams that come out of the North Atlantic conference I will leave it at that. New England and rest of the midwest/fly-over states is quite weak, Eclipse included. Mid-Atlantic has Charlotte and Southeast has Florida Premier thats it in terms of teams that may be interesting. My prediction CA wins again, but who will be the Bethesda for 2024 that crashes the party in Richmond? Odds are that teams is one of these mentioned. Bookmark it!

you realize Blues tied Penn at the showcase and Blues were missing many girls with no subs. Penn is not hanging sorry. I agree a Cali team will win the title again this year and I say will then win one the next 4 years in the 10's age group. No question about it. I say that because Penn recent beat Bethesda 4-0 and Charlotte only beat Bethesda 1-0 recently. I will say this again the National rankings for all these other teams are flawed based on the fact they never play any SW teams and when they do the reality hits.

Showcase games don't mean much because it should be equal playing time and players sometimes cant make it. Next year, the landscape for the 2010s will change throughout the nation because that's when all the players start moving to bigger clubs. Dominance is rarely maintained through the high school years.

History. When the high school years hit (recruiting years), talent consolidates throughout the country. End of 8th and 9th grade is when talent consolidates because of college recruitment.

You don't see a bunch of players who move the other direction, trying to get playing time?

We see a decent number of those up here.

Fresheman and Sophmore year is about the time kids start shuffling around looking for playing time, or more time in a specific playing position. 9s, 10s, and 8s, seem to be the targeted positions.
The ones who are changing position can be impactful to teams.

My observations are from before 2020, but i know some really good teams lost 3-5 key players because they all wanted to play certain positions.
