Surf 8-0 Pats
Pats played Surf close in preseason with a 4 back formation, absolutely shredded Pats with only 3 backs today.
Surf is so calm on the ball, and even without some of their top players looked like one of the best like always, kuddos to them, continued success.
Bottom 3 need to be relegated.
I find this comment very intreging. If the girls DA is going to be run like the boys program then they should relegate the weaker teams. However, if this is truly about development, some subjective parameters need to be put in place. Yes unfortunately it is always going to be subjective, but US Soccer must somehow measure the development each club is achieving other than just pooching players.
So far all I have seen DA do is weaken leagues and cause high level players to quit soccer entirely; the conflict between the ego of wanting to be recognized as a top player and thus play on a DA team vs the reality that teenage girls want some free time to be a kid and also study has been too much for some players.
I have also heard rumors that a big shake up is coming already in this first season. Speaking with an out of state parent of a high level ECNL player, his comment was that only in SoCal are parents obsessed with DA. They would rather have the flexibility to spend off days with privates focusing on individual needs.
