Here are my games of the week. I've only seen a few of these teams play, so much of the narration is based off of the rankings data I have and what things look like in the respective standings. I tried to give a little love to the lower tier teams (been there at one time not too long ago) as they don't get much talk in these parts. Good luck to everyone this weekend. And stay safe!
CAS G04 Games of The Week (10/1,2)
SCSDL Flight 1
Saturday 10/1
SD Surf EGSL Academy (3-0-0, Rank #1) vs Slammers FC Pre ECNL Winn (2-1-0, Rank #24)
SD Surf still the queens of this age group hope to put some distance between themselves and the second place Slammers/Winn team. I don't see them having any
trouble winning this game.
Prediction: SD Surf wins 3-0
Saturday 10/1
Murrieta Surf White Davis (0-3-0, Rank #49) vs Anaheim Surf (0-2-0, Rank #51)
Well, I just picked this game because it was the most evenly matched contest in flight 1 this week. Both teams are decent but overmatched by the juggernaughts
found at the top of the standings. This will be one of the better chances for either of these teams to score a victory in league play.
Prediction: 1-1 Tie
Sunday 10/2
Strikers FC OC EGSL Bull (2-0-1, Rank #4) vs West Coast FC Pre-ECNL Swanson (2-1-0, Rank #8)
Probably the best high level matchup of the week in the SCSDL as both teams try to seperate themselves from the pack in competitive south division. West Coast
seems to prefer a lower scoring game, so I am going to go with that for my prediction.
Prediction: Strikers FC OC wins 1-0
SCSDL Flight 2
Saturday 10/1
LA Galaxy South Bay Gold (2-1-0, Rank #59) vs Strikers FC South Coast (3-0-0, Rank #27)
Two of the better flight 2 teams are in action against each other. It is pretty impressive what the Strikers have done as a flight 2 team as they have beat a total
of five top 50 teams. I think they will have too much for LA Galaxy SB Gold and win this game.
Prediction: Strikers FC South Coast wins 2-0
SCSDL Flight 3
Saturday 10/1
FC Premier Cypress Stamps (3-0-0, Rank #94) vs Pateadores Long Beach Blue (2-0-0, Rank #63)
Both teams have done a great job of beating up on the lower tiered teams. Each team has 2 wins against top 100 teams. Everything points to a very close game.
Prediction: Pateadores Long Beach Blue wins 2-1
CSL Gold
Saturday 10/1
IE Surf Premier RB (1-0-3, Rank #9) vs LAGSD Elite (4-0-0, Rank #7)
The first of two must win games this weekend for IE Surf as they put themselves in an early hole with three times against
teams below them in the standings. It is hard to pick against LAGSD Elite in this one.
Prediction: LAGSD Elite wins 2-1
Sunday 10/2
IE Surf Premier RB (1-0-3, Rank #9) vs Eagles (4-0-0, Rank #13)
Another tough/must win game for IE Surf if they want to have any shot at winning the Gold flight. Eagles is tough, with an offense that can eat you alive
with speed and tenaciousness and size and speed on the backline.
Prediction: Tie 1-1
CSL Silver Elite
Saturday 10/1
Santa Monica United (2-0-1, Rank #53) vs FRAM Ferren (4-0-0, Rank #117)
There is not much balance in the SE-North division this year. FRAM, who had a less than impressive tournament season, finally faces one of the other good teams
in their league and could see it fall from its perch atop the league. Both teams have one win against top 50 teams.
Prediction: Santa Monica United wins 2-1
Sunday 10/2
Coachella Valley Desert Storm (3-1-0, Rank #40) vs UIFC Venom SC (3-0-1, Rank #37)
Two athletic teams will be on display, playing among the scorpions and rattlesnakes out in the Coachella Valley this weekend. Coachella (unlike Venom) does have a
win against a top 50 team this year. Get your coin out and flip it, because this ones a toss up.
Prediction: Tie 2-2
CSL Silver
Saturday 10/1
LA Galaxy CVU (3-0-0, Rank #97) vs Futbol Foundations (4-0-0, Rank #62)
All the action in the Silver divisions this weekend can be found in the north. LA Galaxy CVU and Futbol Foundations have rattled off undefeated starts thanks to
facing the easy part of their schedule at the beginning of league play. Futbol Foundation plays good team ball and has an X-factor in the middle of the backline.
LA Galaxy CVU on the other hand has a magician-like goal scorer up top that will give FF something to worry about at all times. But I believe the FF defense will be a little too touch in this one.
Prediction: Futbol Foundations wins 1-0
Sunday 10/2
LA Galaxy CVU (3-0-0, Rank #97) vs SC Antelope (3-0-0, Rank #55)
Yes, there are three Silver-North teams with perfect records headed into this weekend. This game will be a rematch from the 1-1 tie these teams played in the CVU Tournament
of Champions back in late May. The teams have probably changed somewhat, but I'm going with a similiar outcome in my prediction.
Prediction: 1-1 Tie
CSL Bronze
Saturday 10/1
Moorpark UTD FC AC (4-0-0, Rank #125) vs Simi Valley Eclipse Blue (4-0-0, Rank #175)
Don't know much about the Bronze teams but felt that they should get some love. These two teams will duke it out for first place and early season
bragging rights in the Bronze Beta division.
Prediction: Moorpark wins 3-1
Saturday 10/1
Canyon FC (3-0-0, Rank NA) vs La Mirada (3-0-0, Rank #80)
Canyon looks to take control of the Bronze Central division, but will run into one of the better Bronze teams around in La Mirada. La Mirada already has one
win against a top 100 team and will likely control this game from start to finish.
Prediction: La Mirada wins 5-1
Saturday 10/1
Celtic St. Patrick (3-0-1, Rank #110) vs Titans FC (3-1-0, Rank NA)
First place in the Bronze East is on the line as one of the clubs with the most unique team names looks to put a beating down against Titans FC.
Prediction: Celtic St. Patrick wins 4-1
Saturday 10/1
Pacific SC Los Alamitos (3-0-1, Rank #128) vs FC Long Beach Blue (3-1-0, Rank #133)
The Bronze South is probably the best Bronze division, at least the top half is. The bottom half is struggling mightily. These two teams do battle in a
second place showdown this Saturday, as both teams look up to Albion OC White. Both teams are pretty evenly ranked, though FC Long Beach does have one win
against a top 100 team. Not sure I can pick a winner in this game.
Prediction: 2-2 Tie
SDDA Flight 1
Sunday 10/2
Notts Forest FC Red (4-0-0, Rank #29) vs DMCV Sharks Toumi (1-1-2, Rank #11)
The second of two tough games this weekend for Notts. On Saturday they play a tough Rebels Gold team, so chances are they could be a little spent coming into
this game. DMCV Sharks Toumi has struggled a little bit during league play and really needs to win this game to have a chance at first place in the top SDDA
flight. The rankings tell me to go with the Sharks, but my intuition tells me to go with the hot hand and team that is playing at home.
Prediction: Notts Forest FC Red wins 1-0
SDDA Flight 2
Saturday 10/1
Albion Premier (3-0-1, Rank #41) vs OVC Martinez (2-1-1, Rank #90)
After an early season tie against SDSC Orange, Albion Premier have won three straight games and is sitting atop the SDDA flight 2 standings. OVC-Martinez looks
to throw a monkey wrench into things and upset the slightly favored Albion team. Both teams have played a similiar strength of schedule, with Albion Premier
having one win against a top 50 team (Beach FC - Fisher).
Prediction: Albion Premier wins 3-1
Presidio AAA
Sunday 10/2
AYSO Matrix Bonita (4-0-0, Rank #58) vs Poway Vaqueros Drummond (5-0-0, Rank #105)
Two undefeated teams in the top Presidio flight lock horns on Sunday. Matrix Bonita played a ton of games this summer
and have five wins vs top 100 teams under their belt. For Poway, the schedule turns tough this weekend and they will
be the underdog in this matchup. Poway has one win vs a top 100 team (Liverpool Trask 2-1 in the Poway Country Shootout back in May).
Prediction: AYSO Matrix Bonita wins 3-1
