West Coast Classic 2016

PREMIER
Normally one of the bigger and more competitive tournaments toward the end of summer. CRL has cut into the number of teams participating.

Moved up a week this year and there seems to be fewer teams especially top ones:

Bracket A
FC VALENCIA B2003 NAVY (CAS)
OC NOMADS B03 (CAS)
SD SURF ACADEMY BOYS (WHIDDON) 2003 (CAS)
WEST COAST FC 2003 KIRSCH (CAS)

Bracket B
BOCA JUNIORS LA B03 (CAS)
IRVINE SLAMMERS B03 PREMIER (CAS)
REAL SO CAL 03 USSDA (CAS)
STIKERS FC SOUTH BAY 03 (CAS)

Bracket C
CDA SLAMMERS FC GODINEZ (CAS)
FULLERTON RANGERS B03 WHITE (CAS)
LAGSB 2003 GOLD (CAS)
REBELS-ELITE- AVALOS 03 (CAS)

Bracket D
BEACH FC B03 REA (CAS)
CORINTHIANS SC B03 (CAS)
LAGUNA UNITED FC B03 BLUE (CAS)
WEST COAST FC 03 CLOUTIER (CAS)

Seems ~ half of these are Flight 1 (champs) / Gold and half a flight down(Europa, SE)

The strange entry is: REAL SO CAL 03 USSDA (CAS). Shouldn't they be playing in the DA sanctioned events instead of this one?

LAGUNA UNITED FC B03 BLUE (CAS) surprised some at Cerritos, have they solidified their line-up for the season or will some guests show up again?

RSC/CDA final, with CDA taking down another USSDA team as they did in Albion Cup.
The final will the third game of the day and a battle of attrition.:p

Theres a couple of teams that love taking guess players on this tournament.so I think it will be hard to see the real line up for the season.

Maybe Real So Cal doesn't have a strong enough team to compete against the stronger DA teams. Has anybody seen them play?

Yes seen them play there a competitive team that had done well in scrimmages vs most other DA teams.

They must of overlooked the DA guidelines of playing : one game a day and only two in consecutive days before a day off. 3 games in a day is the opposite of what is recommended. 3 games over 4 days is the standard in DA comps. That and playing non da teams in a comp.

DA season doesn't technically start until 9/3/16 so until then RSC could play AYSO games without any consequences.

Starts when your player signs dev academy agreement and registration is done which is in the past tense with the deadlines.

If true, I assume RSC's interpretation of registration deadline is 9/3/16 otherwise they wouldn't be playing or maybe they are throwing down the gauntlet to USSDA and daring them to push back.

have they changed much from the Volkswagen Junior Masters?

What a game between Slammers Godinez and Fullerton Rangers! Slammers won by pk, Rangers had it almost won. I have seen slammer durring the summer and are very solid, but I have not seen Rangers all summer after Nationals.

12 shots vs 1 on goal was only close as far as the score board I don't understand "almost won". Slammers coach rotated players frequently to rest for a three game day. But credit to the Rangers keeper. He played a great game and saved three to four sure goals. Props to rangers keeper for keeping it close.

Good preseason semi final games remaining in some hot weather.

Interesting to watch the slammers VS rangers game. It was the first time I watched both these teams play since last year and had heard all great things about slammers and was not impressed. The game was decided on a soft PK and both teams had the same amount of chances through out the game. Rangers looked the better overall team and slammers has some individual very good players... Curios to see who wins this tourney

All I wanted to say was Kudos to both teams Slammers & Rangers for a great battle. Not taking the mojo from anyone, but as a spectator waiting for your game to end, your numbers seem to be off & on what I seen traditioanly, you don't ever hold back on scoring on your opponents, especially when your up 1-0 (goal by pk not attacking). Anyways congrats to Slammers, keep up the good stuff & win tournament.
PS: Rangers, good job also!

It's amazing how Slammers is winning tournaments all over, what's the formula?

Couple of tournaments were the comp was not particularly strong (mostly flight 1.5, Europa, SE teams) 18 players that do well when things go there way. Let's see how they do vs some tougher teams like Oxnard, TFA, etc in CRL

Ok the other hand, did Real So Cal played with the academy team? based on the 4-1 result vs West Coast, if they played with their Academy team they should be worried.
