Video Editing Software recommendations

SILVER ELITE
I am looking for a free video editing software for my PC. Any recommendations? This may be a repeat post but there are too many posts to search through. Thx

Depends how complicated you want to get.

There are probably better ones out there but I used Sony Playmemories for the longest time: https://www.sony.net/Products/playmemories/ (The one labeled Home).
My original Sony camera came with it but I believe it’s free.
Simple to learn. Can cut, clip, combine.

I ended up going with powerdirector by cyberlink when I wanted something more powerful.

We had this discussion a while ago. PC solutions in the free category.

Windows 10? You already have one -- Windows Photo App will make slide shows and movies (this app replaced Movie Maker), its simple and control options are limited, but will do in a pinch.

Professional Quality Tools that offer all the essentials and swim in the same waters as Premier Pro, Vegas Pro, Final Cut Pro (Apple), Avid, etc.
HitFilm Express - https://hitfilm.com/express (powerful and relatively easy to use once you spend some time with it)
Lightworks - https://www.lwks.com/

I have not, but I'm a power user (own Vegas Pro, Premier Pro and others). I dislike coud based solutions or SAS programs for the simple reason that your stuff can go away permanately if the company goes out of business.

That said, I suppose it would be good for those without a PC (tablets or chrome-like devices). The price structure is out of wack when you consider that for about $50 to $60 you can get Vegas Movie Studio (all the power a home user needs) and not worry about if your cloud based solution company is solvent.

Note, FreePlayMusic and Youtube Audio Library has just about all the music you can use.

Damnit, now you have it in my head to add the music from the Benny Hill show to my next video... and speed it up maybe 1.5-2X

About 3 years ago, my daughters HS Varsity Comp Cheer team had a complete meltdown at the USA Finals in Anaheim (having won the Jamz Nationals in Vegas a few weeks earlier). Confronted with how to deal with a devastating melt down I did exactly that. Speed up their 2.5 minute routine, music was Yackety Sax and added sound effects for the slips, trips, falls, etc.

In case anybody comes back to this thread, I have downloaded and been playing around with Hitfilm Express. The compositing tools are awesome. It has frame level tracking capabilities, so you could feasibly track your player with a little arrow, highlight, circle, etc. that follows him/her through the entire clip, which is next level stuff that is super easy. While I'm still a Vegas guy, Hitfilm is making me believe I may buy the pro version shortly.
