Pateadores Girls DA 03/04 - Observations

I think you guys are missing the point. It is US Soccer that came out with their philosophy and how they are going to improve DEVELOPMENT. Part of their philosophy was less games, more training, AND combined age groups. THEY said something to the effect that it is good to play against older girls every other year. How it helps the older girls I don't know and I agree with you, it does not seem logical that it would be advantageous for the olders to play against the youngers. Again, that is their philosophy not mine. So if that is their philosphy and it is somehow going to improve DEVELOPMENT in the long run, how can they let the clubs simply ignore this element? For example, if a DA club came out and said they are only going to train 2X per week, US Soccer would order the club to add 2 more trainings or be dropped from DA. That's all I'm saying.

All you have to do is look at the YNT rosters. SOCAL should be blowing those up- we don't. We are a hotbed of talent. Clearly we need more education and instruction in this part of the country because we are not showing at the YNT level as would be expected based on clubs, population, advantageous weather etc

So instead of taking a year to get some "good" coaches to be "better" or even "great" coaches, we we jam 2 age groups together?
I really hope DA is a great thing. Will we see the biggest, most physical kids on DA teams? Or will we see technical kids? Will DA take a team of 22 strikers and covert them to defensive specialists?
I really hope that all of the teams will look to play a great style of soccer now, so that when they are the u20 and beyond teams, we will dominate once again. And I hope they find coaches that will work well with young female athletes.

In SC we have enough quality girls players to do single calendar age groups, in the rest of the country not so sure?

The cost of each DA team is roughly double or more what a normal team run.

DA on the boys has more physical kids and some great technical ones as well compared to normal clubs.

Some with play a nice procession 4-3-3 syle and other won't; mostly kick & run

There are not enough "A" & "B" coaches who can qualify that want to or can coach girls DA.

3 combined teams each club is a very small group of players. If/when expansion happens for the girls DA (took 10 years for the boys) the program will have a bigger impact, until then some DA players will eventually make the YNT and the program will sell that success.

Nice having you here - good to have the first hand knowledge around!

There was a big difference in the intensity in the drills when the girls were split into 03/04 groups. The 03 girls were expected to compete and play fast during their drills. it appeared the 04 group was giving more instructions there for greating less intensity and pace during group drills/ play.

intensity for the players didn't drop. The coaching got more intense due to the fact the base wasn't there for some of the 03s. The woman coach pointed out mistakes that should not have been happening from a 03 club player. Now when they went to the SSG her focus was on the 04s. She was mining for diamond(s) and she was intense. At least that's the lie I saw.

I saw it but it could have been a lie. I saw a sparing match take place and it happen in 4 strides and a little something got inside of a bigger and faster player. Nothing big but she shielded the ball away. The pens hit the paper on that one. Trust we don't want physical at these tryouts .

yes your right about that. for us it was a good experience. especially coming from the LA.

I think they added another day for DA tryouts the email was sent out by the DA head tonight. Pretty sure anyone can join?

Pats giving everyone a second chance to hand out their mixtape? I love the fact that forum members as far as L.A. are hearing about the tryouts and can't wait for the other OC clubs to announce their public get downs. "Study Long Study Wrong"

I got the email from NP yesterday and at first thought...."cool, my dd was personally invited back to another tryout". Then I realized that the announcement also appears on the Pats website, so it is just another cattle call.

I will be there and interested to see how many ECNL players show up to this tryout. While you may not be looking to leave your current club, don't you want options? I know I would if I were in your shoes.
