What's going on Cal South and State Cup Semi's?

The "adults" in this situation let the kids down. Call-South and their lack of transparency has created a situation that leaves us all shocked, confused, and upset. As I understand it, Cal-South is a governing body that did not follow their own rules. If they followed their rules, then they should issue a statement high-lighting the rules, the process and how the rules worked. Since it does not appear that Cal-South is going to be forthcoming without being prodded, I referred this story to a reporter that I know. Maybe there is something here, maybe not. At this point no one knows (which is the heart of the matter). Hopefully light shined on this situation will clear AS and the girl (and all parties involved) of all wrongdoing and we can all go on with our lives.

I encourage us all to be respectful of the fact that all of the players are someone's daughter. We should leave the girls out of this, and do out level best to be civilized to each other.

PS My heart goes out to the LAGSB team that went to bed thinking they were playing the next day only to wake to find out they were not playing.

I understand CalSouth is considering clarifying the rule in line with the proposed interpretive guidance, but that there's currently internal debate on whether to adopt that guidance or just substitute the 30+ page rules manual and pages of noted revisions over the years to a more simple two line pronouncement of "Gaming rules shall be set and modified from time to time by CalSouth in consultation with megaclubs and counsel and notified to member clubs and participants at the convenience of CalSouth" in order to avoid pesky issues like this."

Of course it's the adults and organization that bear the blame and provide fodder for onlookers. At least kids don't play on these boards (I hope).

If the reporter isn't interested, try Judge Judy (although I think she requires that the parties not be represented by counsel, so that might be a non-starter).

Without actually seeing the evidence, Cal south was provided ample evidence to overturn the disqualification. I am really concerned that CalSouth ruled a disqualification in the first place, which is why I think the opposing point of view is also so curious.

It is my understanding that AS and Cal South not need to provide private and personal hard evidence to the general public, or to us the parents. This is private documentation that belongs to a 10 year old girl. I, as per my previous posts, thought this was really hard to comprehend, but now I think other clubs this kid played for made administrative errors into the calsouth system that ultimately led to this unfortunate event for an innocent child (again, I haven't seen anything, this is just my understanding).

I have been a part of this team for almost a year, and I know for a fact a lot of the presumptions on this forum are "hear say" and not exactly true. In fact I heard the rumor that the "City that never sleeps" parent was a relative of the coach for many months when I joined the team, to only find out it wasn't true. So shame on people posting to this forum that they are all knowing when they know nothing.

Soccer for me is about my daughter being the best she can be, as I am sure it is for most of you. If there comes out a ruling against this team from Cal South I will be the first to say you are right. As for now that is not the case, so please be careful in attacking AS as we as parents feel you are attacking the region your daughter plays for, our AS girls, and undermining the validity that your dd's have played well against tough competition. Winning this tournament was a tough feat, the 06 girls in CalSouth are no joke. There are at least 10 teams we've played against this year that I think it could go either way on any given sunday. Congrats to all the Cal South girls that made each other better.

FYI...My spouse told me not to commit any more on this forum, but I like other soccer parents like you, and felt the need to tell you how I felt. If any one attacks me or my lil, this is the last time you'll hear from me. I have really enjoyed the competition this year and all your dd's teams have helped my 06 dd get a lot better. To you and your daughters I am thankful.
Congrats.. but they are related. Fact. She's a great player. Fact. She can play for whomever and wherever she wants though, can't she? She is not the issue. Let's not forget the truth here...many other teams including SD Surf were robbed.. all year.. for other reasons. Affairs, scorned moms, sideline antics, unethical? Just maybe. So Cal this is pathetic. Wake up and make this right for our 10/11 year old girls so they can play some real honest soccer!

I don't do this soccer forum drama, you can speak to me in person. It was brought to my attention that you brought up my daughter and I'm telling you man to man, don't talk about my daughter.

You have no clue what you are talking about. You must think we're related because we're black.

#2 has been playing in SoCal since U8. She isn't going anywhere so get used to it. I'm sure you know where to find me since you know so much about us, come speak to me in person.
Agree with you. Totally wrong to mention your daughter. GUYS keep the girls names and number out of your mouths. How would you feel if this was your daughter. I am sure you all wished she was on your 06 team. I know our club would love to have her for our 2006 team. This has nothing to do with the kids. Keep it classy

@Lone Wolf

You don't know anything about #2. I'm her father and you need to leave her out of this! If you have something to say about her you can contact me directly. You're with LAGSD, what is your name?

I don't play when it comes to my daughter. You need to have respect and don't be speaking on other people's kids who you know nothing about.

Spare me. If this is the one who runs an Instagram for his ten year old daughter you are part of the problem with youth sports.
You guys put yourselves out there then prepare for it.

Sorry AS, nobody is buying it. AS registered her as a new player to get her a new ID # and from what was written earlier, she all of a sudden had a new hyphenated last name at the exact same time that she came over with her teammates from Arsenal. Did any of her Arsenal teammates get a new ID #? No. Did the girls who came over from Legends get a new ID#? No. Everybody knew she had previously played for Arsenal. The AS DOC knew she previously had played for Arsenal, so there was no reason to not use her existing Cal South ID #, other than to deceive and to create plausible deniability. End of story.
Contact me directly....leave no phone number

In summary.......Adults are crazy and will do crazy things to "win" at youth sports.

What percentage of these kids will be pro athletes? (very small number I am sure)

The idea here (IMO) is to teach these kids life lessons through the experience of sport.

Epic fail here, regardless of the "truth".

Carry on.

Apologies never should have mentioned numbers. Again great player and AS has others as well. Like most out there our team got handled by AS in a tourny and it doesn't sit well if they did indeed cheat with a 05 player. Oh well. Moving on though.

Nothing is going to happen. AS,BW and Cal South washed their hands. The scapegoat is the poor kid and their family. AS and BW will never admit of wrongdoing and as for Cal South they will blame it on the kid and their family. Is bs but get anyone to admit what they did.
Karma will get them. It has already happened. Any time you hear BW name and AS in your mind will come as cheaters.

I want to make sure that I was clear enough in my first post. I hope that I haven't said anything which has offended you, your family, or anyone for that matter. Even if all of the allegations were true people shouldn't be saying some of the things that I have read in here. As I've said in the past I have always enjoyed when our two teams have played. We've always felt your girls are a great measurement to show us where we stand. It's definitely plausible to say that many of the adults who could have known did not, but I'm hopeful that someone will finally come forward to take ownership of this so we can move on.

You have been great. Your posts are the only ones I'm replying to at this point. Hope to meet you in person one day.

I have no dog in this fight; I live a 1000 miles away in the Midwest….directed to this thread from another forum…

This incident is terrible and unfortunate all the way around…Mostly it shines a bright light on the unhealthy, over-investment many adults have regarding youth soccer….obviously, this problem isn’t confined to SoCal or even to soccer…

Without making or drawing any conclusions in this particular case, having been around youth soccer a few years now, I am certainly jaded enough to believe that some (far too many) adults will cheat, bend the rules or will generally throw good sportsmanship out the window in the pursuit of winning or hoisting a meaningless trophy…maybe that is the case here, maybe it isn’t…I would agree questions still remain to be answered…

On the flip side, it is equally disheartening how petty, vindictive and nasty some adults feel entitled to be because of some moral high ground they feel they find themselves on. At worse, a handful of adults are to blame for what has happened here, whether it was outright cheating, incompetence, or honest mistake. Throwing around blanket insults and accusations, even belittling and attacking the hard work and accomplishments of 10 year old girls (who bear zero responsibility for any of this) comes across as nothing more than childish jealousy. Justice or answers doesn’t require a pound of flesh, which is all some seem interested in…

To those on both sides who are trying to navigate through this difficult issue in a civil and respectful manner, I wish you good luck and answers, whether it leads to accountability or vindication…

Drama or no drama, facts or rumors, I know that I learn more from reading through this tread then I would have had I called South Cal, AS, and Villa Park.

FACT: A team representing AS won President's Cup by beating some really good teams even without a player that was declared ineligible. This team was composed of families commuting from the IE and Vegas. It does not face me that BW put a really good G06 team together. It however confirms that my local club (AS), sells development, but did not developed the team that won.

FACT: BW started working with this team before AS. He also coaches at VP, the local school. So before all this, I had already began watching him work with his G06 and HS team. I have done a lot of research on him asked questions and confirmed what started as rumors. My daughter is not a soccer star so her contact with BW would likely be limited. But from everything I have learn about this character I do not want her thinking of a path that leads to a Varsity team that is coached by him.

Teachers/Principals/Coaches we all have skeletons in the closet but when, why, what, and how those skeletons begin to sneak out is a determining factor in how quickly and how far I run.

Thanks to all who participate willingly or unwillingly your information was found useful at some capacity.

I apologize ..I will correct myself: I have heard, only heard more than a few times, that they were related. I guess I'm not the only one that heard that? The coaches all talk and know each other from school, playing, coaching, etc. It's really a small big community. But she is a great player. Well that's a fact. It doesn't matter really. Please forgive me. I didn't mean any harm. Like I said she can play for whom ever & wherever she wants ..Very deserving. It's the other things mentioned that are pathetic. Read @Chicharito .. concerning stuff. This will not go away until Cal South addresses it. We will all try and move on...Here's to a honest, fun, healthy good year of soccer for our girls!

Nicely written and objective response.

I have to say, I have long been envious of my wife and kiddos who could get wrapped up in a book they are reading for hours. I can never get beyond my sports page before I get distracted, bored or tired. I often thought I had some attention disorder or something. Until this thread, along with the related ones. This has been so entertaining, with a rollercoaster of emotions, along with being interactive. I wish nobody ill will. Quite the contrary. I am just the type that needs closure. I want to see the end of the story. I want answers. Not that I am owed this personally. But I like things wrapped up eventually. This has been the best read in a long time.

I do think closure is coming. This appears to being handled quietly by non Cal South personnel. And appears to growing and may get ugly. There have been reports that newspaper writers have been inquiring about this matter with several different club officials.

Love it! Hopefully tons of writers will put pressure on it and expose the ugly side of youth sports. Great article! Lord knows you cannot count on these clubs or their personnel to do the correct thing without political pressure
