Saudi Arabia getting access to nuclear enrichment is absolutely insane. We’re supposed to be told that Iran can’t be trusted with a nuclear program, but somehow the kingdom tied to 9/11 hijackers and the murder of Jamal Khashoggi gets a pass? That’s not national security. That’s a payoff with a flag on it. Recent reporting says the Trump administration signed a nuclear cooperation pact with Saudi Arabia that could open the door to enrichment, while critics are already pointing to years of ethical concerns around Jared Kushner’s Saudi ties, including a $2 billion investment in his firm.
And let’s not pretend the timing and the money don’t matter. When a president’s son-in-law gets a $2 billion Saudi investment after serving as a top Middle East adviser, people are allowed to ask whether this country’s policy is being written by national security officials or by grifters cashing checks. If Trump can scream “Iran bad” while handing the Saudis a potential nuclear lane, then the entire argument was never about safety, stability, or nonproliferation. It was about who pays and who profits.
