If I would have been better at connecting the history that I knew of centralized power, human nature, AND that we are essentially the same beings that perpetrated all of known history’s atrocities, I never would have supported it. "Patriot" was a contorted contrivance to get a flashy title for the Act. There wasn't much about the Act that was patriotic -- "We now have the power to seize all your records and record everything you are doing and saying with warrants from a secret court, just in case you might be doing something awful".

Common practice. Affordable Care Act and Inflation Reduction Act come to mind as well, although Patriot is decidedly more sexy.

I'm kind of a "meh" on the Patriot Act. If we were really concerned about our privacy we'd never be on social media

SHOCKING: Pennsylvania has 100,000 non-citizens on the voter rolls and decided that no one has standing to clean up or access the voter rolls, despite federal law. This case shows the need for urgent citizenship verification for voting.
