Effective immediately, we're implementing a new "Tesla Hardcore" initiative.
First and foremost, I expect everyone to be putting in a minimum of 80 hours per week. 80 is the new 40. If you're not willing to ditch your personal life for the mission, you’re out.
Secondly, we're instituting a company-wide ban on frivolous activities like "team-building exercises" and "holiday parties." Wine tasting on company dollars? You’re out.
Third, any complaints about the new initiative? You’re out.
Speaking of focus and cutting the fat, let's talk about what I did at Twitter. When I took over, the place was a bloated mess, filled with engineers who spent more time drinking kombucha than shipping code. So I did what needed to be done: I fired the dead weight. I riddled the company of the parasitic employees who were dragging us down. I got rid of 95% of the mediocre people hired by Parag. And guess what? X thrived.
We can’t afford to carry any dead weight at Tesla either. This is why, effective immediately, I have terminated the entire Supercharger team.
