Trump: A new Golden Age!
We're ten months in and we're looking straight into the abyss of impeding recession. Tariffs have crippled the economy. Healthcare is now completely unaffordable to most Americans. Everything from groceries to energy to mortgages to consumer goods has has doubled (or tripled) in price. We gave massive tax breaks to big companies to (allegedly) create jobs, and those companies are now engaged in mass layoffs right before the largest retail season of the year and we have no idea what the job numbers actually are because the government agency responsible for generating them has been furloughed or fired. Air travel as collapsed, mass cancellations across the nation today and it's getting worse by the hour, coupled to increasing accidents and system failures which are now the norm. Government has shut down and can't be restarted and it seems the Speaker of the House has given up even trying anymore. The courts can't be trusted. Government services people depend on have failed utterly. The only part of government still functioning is the new American Gestapo engaged in mass arrests.
Americans today are LITERALLY standing in line for food, like proles in the old Soviet Union and we have armed soldiers in our streets and rather than take responsibility, the buck stops anywhere but Trump's desk.
Trump: "I don't want to hear about the affordability, because right now we're much less. If you look at energy, we're getting close to $2 a gallon gasoline."
Trump doesn't want to hear about what Americans can and cannot afford. He doesn't want to hear your complaints. Those are his words, IN CONTEXT. Oh, and about that "pretty close to $2 a gallon gasoline," the national average is $3.08 at the moment. Pretty close. Only a full third off, but good enough for government work, I guess.
Now you know how he managed to bankrupt a bunch of casinos.
Trump's Administration is in court today, literally fighting to keep from feeding children because, and I quote: "Our country has to remain very liquid because problems, catastrophes, wars, it could be anything. We have to remain liquid. We can't give everything away."
We can't feed Americans because we need that money to fight a war. That's what Trump said.
Vice President JD Vance says it's "absurd" to continue any sort of food subsidies or programs during a government shutdown. Absurd. Feeding people is absurd.
Meanwhile Trump's bulldozing the White House, refurbishing a Qatari jet for himself, and throwing Great Gatsby parties on the taxpayer dime. But it's "absurd" to feed people.
That picture, yesterday, of him standing there, indifferent and irritated by the distraction of a medical emergency, utterly devoid of humanity, empathy, or compassion while a man lays on the floor and others scramble to his aid, will be the defining image of this presidency.
Trump's golden age is nothing but cheap brass
