I dont know why the press gets all upset about a government shutdown. Nothing in our lives actually changes during these shutdowns. All essential services continue.
They only functions stopped are NON ESSENTIAL gov services/employees.
One has to wonder...why do we worry about and why do we have non essential services and non essential employees in the first place?

It is exaggerated, but I do feel for the military families that aren't getting a paycheck, particularly if its a prolonged shutdown. I suspect many live paycheck to paycheck, so even though they receive their back pay it still has to be stressful.

If you are worried about what other nations think...you are an idiot.
Countries do things in their best interest. That means sometimes other countries go along, and sometimes they do not.
Countries with leaders like Macron are lead by a political party that in many aspects are closely aligned with ideas/ideals espoused by our Dem party. So it is not surprising that those leaders have different opinions vs Trump.
Likewise countries like Argentina have a leadership with ideals more closely aligned with T and so their leader reacts positively to US initiatives.
Pretending it will take DECADES to rebuild our standing is just a line pushed by leftists.

Yes, Equity and merit based qualifications are independent. It’s the same reason they don’t want to check voter ID. There is an outcome that is being “solved” for. Anything that doesn’t support the desired outcome is ignored.
