I have no sympathy for Hamas or what happens to them.
The reason why there is an expectation that Israel facilitate the feeding of the Palestinians is because it's an occupied territory, remember that. Occupied by Israel. With that comes certain responsibilities, which have been pointed out to Israel for years, decades even, and which Israel has only kinda lived up to. Gaza did not have an airport or port; everything had to be trucked in - 600 per day. There was some agriculture in Gaza, but 80% of the land is now destroyed for agricultural purposes, not that they could do anything now anyway. Israel has purposely blocked all food delivery for 80+ days, along with water, medicine, fuel etc.
Keep in mind that Israel has dealt with Hamas since 2006 as the "rulers" of Gaza. Israel approved of and facilitated the money from Qatar to Hamas (apparently $1.8B).
Interesting that the head of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation resigned just a few days ago. In his resignation statement, Wood cited the foundation's inability to adhere to core humanitarian principles—specifically "humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence"—as the primary reason for his departure. He emphasized that he would not abandon these principles, which are fundamental to effective and ethical humanitarian work.
Israel isn't going to defeat Hamas like this. Every Hamas fighter killed has been replaced. I do not doubt that tens of thousands have been radicalized by what has happened. Israel went from the world on its side to losing the PR war worldwide, with avid Israeli hawks now slamming it publicly and daily. It doesn't help that 2 members of the Israeli cabinet couldn't give a toss about the hostages, but would be fine with genocide or ethnic cleansing, and nothing else - and who have said that the government will fall if the war stops. Obviously, the legal jeopardy of Netanyahu if that happens and the inquiry into how Oct 7th could have happened given the level of security in Israel, makes many publicly question whether Bibi will stop or even wants to.
