There are 3 options on the tariffs
1. It's a negotiating position, so manufacturing isn't coming back.
2. It's to bring manufacturing / jobs back to the US, so its not a negotiating position.
3. It's to raise revenue for the government, which ultimately will be paid by Americans through higher prices and jobs are not coming back.
It can't be all 3, or even 2 of the 3. Your position seems to be that Trump and his admin are lying when they say that its about bringing jobs and manufacturing back and you agree with his son (Eric) who says its about negotiating. That's fine. I don't believe crashing the stock market is the way to do that.
You are full of shit on the astronauts. The plan was clearly communicated by NASA and executed on by them, starting on 9/29/24 when the dragon capsule docked with the ISS with only 2 astronauts on board, hence proving 4 seats for the return journey planned for Feb25, and then moved to Mar25. Those are the facts, which you seem to have a problem with, not me.
As for the DOGE findings, why would I have an issue with finding waste & bribes. I think we should reset the budget to 2018 - which I've stated on this thread. That would reduce gov spending by approx. $1.5T annually at the stroke of a pen, then see what maybe goes back in.

What the fuck is he talking about! Tariffs are paid for by individual Americans via price increases. Now, it could be that some US companies will absorb some of the tariff, but why would they? Trying to compare tariffs with corporate taxes is just stupidity. Oh hang on, let's just try to deflect 'cos I can't give any coherent logical or sensible answer to anyone on the tariffs.
Corporations are not exactly hurting, are they - according to the US Bureau of Economic Analysis US corporate profits for 2024 were at $4T. That would be the highest ever.

Well, he owns the libs on CNN daily, and you have “discovered” the reason. Whatever happened to the intelligent, well-spoken Democrats like Tulsi Gabbard and Nicole Shanahan? Oh right. They can’t afford to have leaders that think for themselves. Instead they push morons out front like Harris, AOC, and Crockett. The commentators on legacy media are of the same ilk - woke stooges incapable of thinking on their feet and poorly educated in many areas they discuss. You’d do much better. But, again, they can’t afford to put you in there because you are willing and able to engage in critical thinking and might say something that wasn’t approved. What we are seeing is the price the authoritarian left is paying. I mean there’s THAT, and government censorship, and foreign policy failures, and outrageous corruption, etc.
There’s no doubt we’ve been getting screwed with the tariffs (see my previous link to the Shellenberger interview for a perspective of how we got to where we are and why it’s not a good place). For policy initiatives, the stated intent and the reality that follows rarely lines up. Californians know this better than anyone. Whatever happens next, it won’t be boring.
Why do I have the feeling the 50% of Americans that don’t own stock might be experiencing a bit of schadenfreude with the market tanking similar to leftists watching Tesla’s burn.

There aren't different tariffs, there are % on everything with specific exceptions, i.e. it is not surgical, its stupid. Take the extreme example, Lesotho, which has the highest % tariff rate. Why? Its as piss poor of a country as you are going to find, it has a life expectancy of like 45 years (or something).
