Ratemycoaches SoCalSoccer version

What would you do if the coach says “Johnny needs work, I would take him for my team but he has to continue with the private lessons”? It could get complicated. You won’t know if your kid got on the team because the coach likes him as a player or like him as a payer.
I agree with everything you wrote. But your kid is now on whatever superteam the coach has control over. So that hurdle is addressed. If the coach wants you to keep paying and you have deep pockets no problem. But now you'll get to speak with the coach before and after the private sessions. Maybe you mention that your kid really wants to be a forward. Maybe you mention some of the issues you've noticed with a certain midfielder. Maybe you offer to bring a couple of other really good players you know from other clubs for private sessions. Maybe if your kid doesnt start you skip privates the next week. Maybe this happens whenever your kid doesnt start. You get where this goes. They dont call it pay to play for nothing.

Lol, the sad thing is what you just described is very common and a lot of wealthy parents don’t think there is anything wrong with that. They probably got to where they are in life by having connections and paying to make those connections. Luckily there are still coaches who aren’t jaded enough yet to commingle side business with club business. They too have a reputation and overtime they attract players and families who are tired of the pay to play shenanigans.
Next time just look at the cars parents drive when you tryout. The worst cars they have the less shady coach is.

What I described is just scratching the surface for how deeply corruption finds its way into youth soccer. I drafted the example so parents either know what they're up against or how to not be ethical and get what you want. Theres no rules and ethics are a second thought. Many parents that are on their 2nd or 3rd kid in competitive soccer already know how the game is played.

Coaches Mo and Ian.

On the other side of things: Obed. Clout chaser. Tagging players he's hardly worked with. 200 person camps with four coaches.
Couldn't agree more about Obed. Clout chaser, whines on social media, talks trash about people he trains to talk up others he trains... I don't know who is worse, him or Fabian from ballers elite. "Used car salesman." IMO they are everything wrong with youth soccer in socal. On the girls side it's all the usual suspects that attend his trainings and camps (Surf, Rebels, Blues, Slammers, etc...) and still, parents continue to pay, pay, pay so that their kids can be affiliated with what is perceived to be elite. Outside of the quality of players that attend their camps and trainings, the actual training itself is pretty mid imo. Better trainers out there.
