PPG

3 points for a win
1 point for a tie
0 points for a tie
* Forfeits are recored as 3-0 wins for the opposite team.
** Showcase (out of league) games are counted in PPG

The total number of points divided by the number of games played = ECNL PPG

In the rules they are saying champions league ppg is counting the showcase games so everyone still should try to win those!!!

Yea, that's why I included the statement that showcase events count against PPG. Seems wrong to include games where the goal shouldn't be to win in PPG. But it's probably just easier to include all the showcase games instead of breaking them out.

so 1 win and 2 losses is better than 2 ties and a loss?

Are you sure about that? I don't think ECNL showcases count towards ECNL Nationals.

I looked it up and in 2021 people were complaining that showcase events were included in PPG. There were several discussions about it. I assume things haven't changed and that they were correct at the time.

I should be more clear, the complaints were in 2023 not 2021 and it was that boys ECNL started including showcase results in seeding for playoffs (basically PPG). Apparently previous to 2023 showcase results were not included. People were complaining that clubs with influence higher up in ECNL were able to get guaranteed wins in showcase events. I would think that girls ECNL would follow the same rules. I'm not aware of any situations where rules for boys and girls ECNL differs.

Showcases do NOT count for girls. They changed it three years ago.

Below is how Girls ECNL used PPG in 2023 it was backed into using maths. So it looks like showcases were included in girls ECNL PPG.

1) Seeds 1-10 are made up of conference winners, and seeded 1-10 based upon ppg in all games (league and showcases). For SW and OV, which both have 2 divisions within their conference, the 1st place team with the highest ppg gets the 1-10 seed.
2) The team with the next best ppg in all games (league and showcases) gets the 11 seed.
3) Teams with the next best 11 ppg in all games are randomly placed as the 2 seeds. So if you have the 12th best overall ppg, you could end up the 12 seed or you could end up the 22 seed.
4) Teams with 23-33 best ppg in all games are randomly placed as the 3 seeds.
5) Teams with the 34-44 best ppg in all games are randomly placed as the 4 seeds.
6) No groups will have 2 teams from the same conference, so if the draw for a 2, 3 or 4 seed already has a team from that conference, they draw another team.

Showcase games do count. Speaking from experience. They do not show up in the calculations until the last minute. So you could be the 1 seed all year and have a couple showcase flaws and when they recalculate at the end your seeding drops.
