ODP with CalNorth is in decline

BRONZE
CalNorth has undermined the ODP in Northern California. Once a respected pathway that produced stars like Alex Morgan and Brandi Chastain, the program is now plagued by financial motives, disorganization, favoritism, and underqualified coaches advancing their own clubs and league agendas.

ODP has lost credibility with scouts, coaches, and competitive players/families. It’s a shame, because the prestige it once held as a cornerstone of elite player discovery and development has now faded.

Share your thoughts if you agree or disagree… perhaps it’s time to consider new leadership or organization to revive this program. It's really sad to see...

ODP in Northern CA has been a joke for years. It's basically anyone that wants to pay the fee.

PDP was significantly better, but it's also a joke because of the politics. It's a tryout but you see cut players come back the following week because a DOC made a phone call. You're also at the mercy of whether clubs will nominate you. I've seen clubs that won't nominate at all... or maybe 1-2... and I've seen clubs nominate 90% of their roster.

It's been a joke in So Cal as well.

So Cal is even more of a joke. Don't you have to be invited? At least in NorCal, you can try out and pay the fee.

My kid has captained almost a dozen games for YNT teams over the years and was never invited to SoCal ODP. Hilarious. Wouldn't have gone anyway, but the process is a joke.

Seems like its popular for kids 9-12 for the most part. The decline in participation is step at the older ages that's when PDP takes over. Both are fun until the drives are 1.5 hours plus for the trainings.
