NATIONAL CUP - 2018

Just coffee, do not take it too seriously been wrong before, but Legends is a good team and I think your girls play yesterday 20 min extra than Legends, If your team wins feel free to flip me off on your way to Hawaii.

Just poking fun, I wasn’t serious, but if you were serious? lol. And I’m not with Arsenal, we flamed out of National Cup a long time ago (SGV Surf 04’s).

Just got here (doing the flamed out of National Cup tournament). Arsenal wins on pk’s.

Arsenal in PK’s....... worst way to settle this type of game! Interesting Randy Brown had this team in flight 2 seems legit! Congrats to both squads! Could have been any of the final 4 teams

Alohaaaaa ! ....Arsenal wins National Cup vs Legends in PK’s
- Congrats to Arsenal Back to Back National Champs

The Arsenal Back story - of being seeded #11, losing 1/2 of their team to DA, two of their Top caliber players out, (Their big mid-Fielder and their starting goalie with a concussion), Only having 1 sub vs. 5 Legends subs, and all of the doubters and haters along the way!

Every team we faced, Slammers, Navy, Freedom, Fullerton Rangers, we’re better teams than Arsenal ... on paper!

But just like in life the things that COUNT, Can’t be COUNTED, Like perseverance, resilency, passion, heart and the belief that ALL Limitations are self imposed .... The belief that you can do it, when no one else thinks you can! ..... AND that, So Cal Soccer Soccer board..... is the true Championship Lesson that these girls won today!

Congrats to Randy Brown and the Arsenal FC G04 Team on a great season!

C’mon Kong, Arsenal’s ECNL team will never be an underdog, even with all the defections and injuries. If the DA’s were in it, then yes.

Serious question, why didn’t the other ECNL teams play National Cup?
Because ECNL teams aren't supposed to do national cup. The rules state that a team must play 4 season games in league (SCDSL) and I don't see this team in a Fall league. Otherwise, I'd like to know how he snuck his ECNL team into National cup. Our 04G ECNL team couldn't do it because ECNL has their own league and would be impossible to play both leagues as the same time without conflicts. Hmmm. Questions, questions. I'm sure the other ECNL teams would have loved to play National cup. I'm a big fan of all teams playing in this tournament so just like know how.

Plenty of teams had ECNL players in National and Presidents cup this year.

So I assume that as long as you had a sister team eligible to play, you could supplement them with ECNL players, is that right?
I believe this really only works for the 04 age group this year. ECNL is on a break inline with the high school season. So those 04 players don't have any games planned for a few months.
If the club has a team with some roster room, it seems to be common to fill those spots with ECNL players.
ECNL games start up again this weekend. Not sure if you'll see ECNL patches floating around State Cup games for 03 and older.

04 is the only age group they could do it, 03 and older all have ECNL league games going on during Olders National Cup and there is no ECNL this season for 05 and younger.

Interesting decision will be what they do if they win National Cup, regionals for 04 USYSA take place while ECNL is going on. Think there are rules in place that a certain amount of players who won the state tournament must be in the roster for regionals so not sure how they could do both?

As of right now it looks like Arsenal ECNL will not qualify for the ECNL event only top 2 at U14 in ECNL Qualify.

Randy Brown had this team playing Flight 2. They forfeited one game since it conflicted with ECNL. They also didn't play in the SCDSL playoffs. Loop holes.

Ah, that explains it then. So, I would assume then that his Arsenal team that played national cup is his ECNL team and NOT his ECNL 2 team that actually played SCDSL league? If so, are parents happy about sitting the bench during national cup because the "A" players were brought up.

ECNL roster and this roster during league shared many of the same players with the exception of a few. Since ECNL is a different league they could play at least during league. I don't now if National Cup follows the same rules.

I think its great that both these teams made it to the finals. Arsenal ECNL 2 is the same Flight 2 team. This is further proof that teams can go far when they stick together. Both these teams have endured some challenges. Mainly the constant question if players should go to DA.

Both teams have been hit by DA and yet they continue to get results. Even the DA sister teams did not fair well proving that SCDL AND Coast is currently a better league than DPL.

In the end teams like these are a dying breed as Soccer is becoming a monopoly. Consumers constantly looking for the newest and shiniest have given control to the few Clubs that continue to strategically maneuver themselves, leaving less and less choices for consumers.

Both teams fought hard and both should be proud. What you continue to accomplish with all the obstacles deserves recognition, great job.

To those adding rational sense and defending the Arsenal Championshop win ... thank you... much respect, truly Appreciated!

And to those slinging mudd, making excuses as to why and how we should or should not have won ... please take the warm comfort of the average and tell your DD ... there’s always next year!

Truth be told this was RB’s SCSDL team that played in flight 2 - this team was coupled together with some ECNL Players of which 2 of his top “ODP” Players did not play in the Championship game.

Every team we played in this tourney was far better equipped to beat us - remember: 1/2 our team we lost last year to DA, we were ranked the 11th seed, we made it in as the 5th Wildcard and we only had 13 players on the team.

There is no Ryme or Reason that this Arsenal team should have been in the 2018 Championship ... other than the heart, will and killer instinct this team showed ... the cold fact is ...RB gets the most out of his girls whether they are A, B, C level players, he knows how to build players with a championship mentality

Like or dislike it, the Proof is in the Cup, or Cups “Plural” I should say

And to those mudd slingers, please continue your tryanical domain of the Average, as you watch us from the sideline drink from the Victors Chalice!

Quick question.

How did they go from being National Cup champions to flight 2?

I understand they lost players to DA ....so he added some ECNL players. Doesn't sound like a flight 2 team? They won 10 -10 in SCDSL right?

Final question. With rain due next week...any idea where I might get some Sandbags?

Illuminati - the question is how did a flight 2 team win the National Cup ?

After last years National Cup - we had 1/2 our squad leave to DA ... no sour grapes their ! We Opted to stay knowing it was going to be a re-building season

RB goes out and finds players that no other team wanted or payed attention too.

RB builds up and revamps his 04 team with a mix of ECNL PLayers and new girls from tier 2 teams and leagues and starts them out in Flight 2, in order to build confidence and chemistry with the team.

Throughout the season RB keeps developing the team and through additional team and private training sessions... with the Sole focus on developing players and getting his girls ready for set Goals! For placing in ECNL and winning National Cup

This Arsenal Team has 4 outstanding ODP players one of which did not play in the tourney and their Goalie got a concussion in Semis and sat out for the Championship game.

Going into finals we had only 2 subs, with arguably the favorite team to win it, Legends is a real good team - Propos and respect!

Arsenal ends up winning Semis and he Championship game by penalties ... with the Arsenal Girls cold as ice in that pressure packed situation ... not missing one goal....The difference you ask ? ....The mental fortitude and the simulated game speed and game time situations where they are expected to perform.

So Illuminati Their was no sandbagging it was a group of girls who no one gave a chance too, they dug deep and winning it!

So Illuminati, I have nothing else to add other than... turn the lights out, on your way out ...to the What if sideline of U14 girls soccer.

Sounds like a great coach who looks for capability rather than what they have at the moment. Love to hear that!

Depends how you define great. RB is unquestionably a winning coach. Always will recruit winning teams. Those kids who go on to be successful in soccer in the future usually do so in spite of the coaching they get from RB which isn't really coaching, it's following his commands. His style of launch it, press, shoot, sub, repeat only lasts for so long which is why players leave him annually. He's burned through more players on his rosters than any coach in so cal soccer history but it's ok and he'll keep filling those rosters up because he wins and even if he runs out of kids in So Cal, he can always call on Hawaii or Texas for some back-up to win another plastic trophy. Peace

That's amazing. Must be some kind of record for a Flight 2 team. Should get a trophy for that too. National Cup for most flight 2 ODP Players.
