MSA merges with City SC Temecula to make City SC Southwest

With an annual MLS/GA expense of at least $6K, who can afford it?
Very curious what other people pay for club sports in general now days. I'm paying around $6k/yr for our smaller local city club, inclusive of travel expenses for a couple farther "stay-and-get-extorted" tournaments per year, and incidentals (~$4k dues, ~$500 equipment, ~$1.5k in travel expenses). And that's for the second tier team, nothing close to elite level, no extra private sessions, etc.

The thing is, my kid looked at club volleyball also, and it was slightly more expensive (again, smaller local club, not elite level).

Am I just the sucker paying all the list prices while everyone else has special arrangements? I haven't really done much "shopping around", since my son is playing in the local club which is close and convenient, but curious what the costs and/or arrangements are for all the rest of the clubs in socal.

Haven’t drilled down the numbers but I estimate around $14k in 2024 playing RL including club dues, private trainings, camps, showcases, travel, uniforms (club and HS), equipment, recovery (equipment and sessions), food expenses, parking and nutritional supplements.

Sounds like you’re getting a bargain.

I heard volleyball is more expensive

Your club is going nowhere, dude. Stop pretending.

The higher the tier, the higher the price to sign your child up for pay for play travel soccer. If your child makes the Tier 1 league, you're now looking at $20,000+ If you fly with the family first class and attend all travel away tournaments and travel away games, it's now about $30K a year. I now realize I was getting a deal when my dd played in Temecula and it was $1000. No travel outside of Socal. Keep it local folks and I believe The Temecula Valley could be a contender. You can have only one Tier 1 team though. You can't let the Outsiders poach the top players with free full rides. The other issue when I was out there in the soccer circuit, all the clubs claimed top club status, but it was really other top club franchises, or some would say satellite clubs of the Mothership.

I know the colloquial wisdom is "don't feed the trolls", but I truly don't understand this insult.

Like, I've stated elsewhere that I don't expect this local city club to become a top national contender or anything, and I've also stated that I don't expect my son to be a top player, and I have him in club soccer primarily for his personal growth, fitness, and socialization skills. Moreover, my quoted comment has nothing to do with the success and/or prestige of the club and/or my son, just an inquiry as to the costs for club programs. The vitriol literally doesn't have anything to do with the subject matter. AI generated trolling, maybe? Or maybe he's trying to say I should look for another club instead? I honestly don't get it...

People are just providing feedback based on their experiences. I wouldn't read into it that much. Often the reasons for changing from XYZ to ABC club aren't worth getting into.

My feedback is that if a club is mismanaged over time your kid will get frustrated as the level of play goes down as they get older.

This guy's scams have been exposed and he is desperately searching for a way out. People that used to be loyal to him are turning on him, and he doesn't know who to trust any more. He is spamming this forum with a fake persona because he has nowhere else to turn. As you come to realize all of this, "Sigma" please remember this colloquial wisdom: stop lying, stop cheating, and stop fucking people over. Until you learn those things, I will keep exposing your scams.

Oh, lol. At the risk of stating the otherwise obvious, you might be confusing me for someone else. :)

(I have no idea who you think I am, but as this is my only account on this forum, I am no longer confused as to why you're being a dick to me; you just think I'm someone I'm not. Carry on, lol.)

Volleyball is more expensive. I'll 2nd that from personal experience... and every bit as political.

Slolbodan, let me get this straight🤔 If you have a good dd playing tier 1 travel soccer and one dd playing travel club volleyball, you're looking at over $40K per family of having the misfortune of two dd's playing top tier travel sports. If you make $150,000 a year bro, you're paying close to 25% on youth sports? If your poor dad making $75,000 a year, you're paying over half your salary to watch kid's ball at the highest elite level, as long as your in tier 1. The cost to participate is fucking insane!!! On top of all these insane high prices in elite and rich only youth sports, some want us to bend the knee and allow men to be women and play with and against the girls. After the match, they & them get to shower with our daughters. Oh wait, there's more Slobo, you also had to make sure Sallie and Susie are fully jabbed to play sports in their leagues. This is just the last 4 years bro.

Yeah, it wasn't quite that bad but fortunately mom makes a nice living, too, because it was probably close to $30k and somewhere along the way we had to fill the 529. Since I travel quite a bit for work, flights, hotel and car rental points helped a bunch. No longer doing that because the older aged out and the younger just walked from comp. She finally realized she can be a contributing player, on a D2 or D3 school with more of an academic reputation, and not have the stress. Definitely an advantage of living in CA. I knew nothing about volleyball, so it was actually possible to have fun at those games, but the backstabbing, snide remarks and jealousy were on par with what we've all experienced on the pitch. Nuts.

Mom making some extra side hustle and being mom is very impressive, and I mean that 100%. It's takes two incomes for most above average families to compete. My pals kid won a JC Natty last year and another pal's kid won a D2 Natty. We need to bring down the high cost of soccer for all because these leagues are not for all, unless your kids can score goals or blocks shots and get that rare free ride, and all-expense paid soccer ride.
