I'm not sure where I'd post this except here; it's a word of warning for people/clubs considering participating in tournaments put on by LA City United.
Our club just played in their LA City Summer Finale (new event this year). It was, as I understand it, intended to be a somewhat inexpensive and local way to try to get some "warm up" play experience prior to the start of the season. I would not recommend this tournament (or any hosted by the club) for any team/clubs in the future, though, fwiw.
In addition to the fields being awful (the worst I think we've played on in years, even including playing in PSSLU), there was some truly awful (and seemingly biased) officiating there also. I don't know if they just skimped on ref costs and got anyone who would come for bottom dollar, but the quality was noticeable worse than all other tournaments I remember, almost laughably bad, and dangerous. Combined with the field quality (with many gopher holes, actually more dirt than thin grass on several field, etc.), and our club will never play in LA City hosted tournaments again... and I'd advise anyone here considering such to strongly consider otherwise.
Anyway, a PSA, fwiw.
