REFEREE FIELD SESSIONS TO HELP THEM IMPROVE

We are working on a program to provide more field training sessions for the referees. US Soccer has asked for field session drills from all the State Referee Committees (SRC) and US Soccer has compiled them into over 100 drills.

What is needed are weeknight fields to do the training on. We have about 80 Ref Coaches and Mentors that can be assigned. We however do not have access or permits to fields. So in addition to the Abuse Prevention, US Soccer has created training to improve the quality of our Referees.

Have your coach or DOC contact any of their Assignors or anyone on the SRC and let them know the date, time and field that is available.

One suggestion: You could try contacting clubs to see if you could conduct limited ref training during informal scrimmages.

I know for my son's club (west side LA), they are very pressed for field space, and I'd imagine it would be a non-starter to request dedicated space from the few facilities they have access to. However, they semi-regularly have training scrimmages with club teams, and I presume it would be workable to have ref training at the same time (eg: observing the game, mentoring for would-be calls, etc.). The club does similar for their coach training from time to time. It's probably not optimal for dedicated and planned training programs, but in terms of just mentoring how to call games well, that might help.

Anyway, figured I'd throw that out there, as something to consider.

Just want to verify, was it the referee in this clip (from Texas I believe) that was suspended or a referee from Cal South????
