D1 is nice but its not the reason ECNL parents like to make this the dividing line. It's because if you buy into the my league is better than yours BS a larger number of girls ECNL teams have connections into D1 colleges. Is this because ECNL players are in some way better than other leagues? I dont think this is the case. But there are more high level clubs in ECNL than other leagues. Because its a guarantee that theres more D1 ECNL players this is where people online like to call things out.

I'm like you. If you can play soccer in some fashion to get free college any level is great.

What programs are City girls going to? Colorado, rt? What top 25 programs? I don't know that team or this age group very well. But I know Koge, Surf and Legends are sending/sent players to UNC (multiple), Stanford, USC, UCLA, Notre Dame, Mich State, UVA, etc.

Ya we’re not talking about P4 conferences, just D1 and is it worth playing the bench on ECNL so don’t get side tracked

But for the vast majority, high school seniors *sign* in November. They're verbally committed until then. They sign their scholarship agreements then.

Just go ahead and DM imyouthscooer if you want.

Those players are not *officially* signed until they sign their scholarship/agreements in November of their senior year. It used to be called NLI day. Last year, players still signed their scholarships in November and took photos behind tables with flags/backdrops of their college, etc. Right now, 2026s are *verbally* committed.

No one signed anything yet.

Except for a FSU '26 commit that graduated early but doesn't start at FSU until Jan. She signed. Maybe there are a couple more like her.

You are correct. National signing day is November 12th. The above data is verbal commitments. That being said, the data is still an accurate representation of what the recruitment landscape looks like for the class of 2026 and the underlying argument of playing the bench on a mid tier team or playing in a low tier NL team versus playing Rl as a starter.

Yeah, I wasn't trying to minimize the significance of verbal commitments. For the most part, colleges and players honor that commitment and officially sign during the player's senior year.

But there will be some colleges that don't... Looking at some college rosters and their 2026 recruiting class and considering the 28 player roster cap, I don't know how all those 2026 verbal commitments will be honored at a few schools.

I know there were DSAs this past year - anyone know if that continues next year?

Or maybe at some of these schools that over-recruited, they already know which existing players they'll encourage to leave the program?

I forget which program - but one decent D1 program I was looking at a few weeks back would have 34 players with the 2026 recruits added (to the 2023, 2024, and 2025 classes).

Their current 2009 (Class of 2027) team already has 2 committed to Washington, Seattle U, UCSB, Minnesota, and Green Bay Wisconsin. Not the blue bloods, but still some pretty strong schools in good conferences and most likely getting paid for through NIL and Scholarships.
