Game got away from the ref in the 2nd half, game got uglier at that point. Sideline, parents, kids, game took a different tone.

Yes, the ref was certainly having a day. So enjoyed watching the first half of the game, great movement and passing by IE Surf and they were running the midfield. Felt SoCal's coach made a good adjustment to their formation which limited passing through the middle at about the 12 minute mark in the first half. Was really disappointed not to be able to watch similar play in the second half because the ref really lost composure and control of the game. Really nice to see IE Surf's development. Hate when it comes down to PKs.
Palm Desert is a very big side, extreme effort and athleticism. If they play that hard every game they might surprise people at State Cup.

Palm Desert was a tough team. We played them in our own tournament over the summer and blew them out, so the improvements they have made in a short period of time is amazing. Every team we played over the weekend played with a ton of heart and I'm sure we will be seeing more of these teams pushing up the ladder.
Holiday break will be a nice thing for all these girls after a long fall of soccer!
